Desktop de-stress

It’s amazing how much a cluttered desk can stress you out. I’m one of those types of people who somehow (don’t ask me how) manages to live in a heap of organized chaos. Generally there is makeup, press releases, cd’s, notes, pens and empty coffee cups all over my desk. Surprisingly enough, I always seem to know exactly where everything is among the clutter, but then sometimes I get a bee in my bonnet where I have to go from extreme mess to extreme neatness.

This time, it all started thanks to the wonderful tax season. As I work for myself, I have to keep record of everything and then (I’m supposed to) sit and file everything away. Well I don’t! And every year, it’s the same old story… I promise myself that I will not let 12 months of slips pile up again, and somehow I manage fall right back into the same old pattern. This year I started early and after I sorted my filing out, I visited Style Candy columnist, Jenny Russel’s fabulous blog, where I not only learned that Jenny too gets a bee in her bonnet to tidy, but I also discovered the fab site www.kikki-k.com which inspired me to clean up my desk and get organised… and here it is…

This is my little corner, where the magic (of StyleScoop and GLOSSY) happen. Can you tell I like bright colours? It’s not usually this tidy, but it feels fab this way!

I got this cute little polka dotted tin from Mr Price Home the other day and just love it. Apart from being super cute and fitting in perfectly with my lime green and white walls, it fits all my pens nicely in. In fact, I think I may need to get a few more to fill it up. You can never have enough pens!

I love this board. I’ve wanted one for the longest time and was super chuffed when I finally found it at @home. I think it sums everything up really nicely… Keep calm and carry on…

This is my unusually tidy diary considering we’re already in August. I’ve started using it a lot more lately, especially to write down my to do lists. I am an obsessive note taker, but the problem is that I write all over the place. This way I can keep it all in one place. Plus it looks kinda cool. I know, I know, never judge a book by its cover, but I just can’t help it!

This is my proudest achievement today… Like most notice boards, mine is always filled with hundreds of notes, cut outs, inspiration etc, etc and ends up looking like a mess all on it’s own. I got inspired to re-do it today after reading some tips on www.kikki-k.com. For example, my entertainment, travel and other pouches are a great way for me to keep my slips organised – lets just hope I can file them at the end of the month, just in case, I’ve noted that these are for August… I also keep some other stuff that inspires me (Scarlett in the Mango campaign, the gorgeous shoes above) while the odds and ends are kept in the envelope at the top to avoid any clutter.

So, how stress free is your desktop?
