A pop of colour
We are all over this coloured denim trend. Back in the 90s, when I was in high school, I remember begging my Dad for enough pocket money to buy a pair of colour jeans. The must have shades of the day were green, mustard or red and Liza had a mustard pair and mine were dark green. I loved them… I have a photo of myself in a mauve roll neck, tucked into my green jeans and finished off with a pair of tan Chelsea boots – my pride and joy. That photo embarrassed me for years, now I am wondering what I did with those jeans.
This spring/summer a bold pair of denims is a must have for every wardrobe yet again, although the hues are leaning more towards tangerines, pinks and cobalt… although it seems that anything goes. They are so easy to wear and versatile and you can pull it off in any shape… although the most popular is the cropped skinny. Possibly because it’s also the most flattering. A pair of coloured denims is going to draw attention to your bottom half, so bare that in mind when you’re choosing a shape.
They can look grown up when worn with neutrals and whites, but if you’re feeling really bold, and full of the joys of spring, then why not try colour-blocking – which is another huge trend for s/s – pairing one bright bold colour with another… shocking pink with tangerine for example, or electric blue and yellow. You can’t help but stride out with a smile on your face when you’re dressed in colours like that. Makes the soul sing.
