From Shop Girl to ELLE girl
Last week I went along to the ELLE and H&M networking event, hosted at the H&M store in Oxford Street, for a chance to get some inside scoop and career advice from team ELLE.
The turnout was a a mix of fashionistas and budding journos – all dressed to impressed – and on entering we were gifted with goodie bags and delicious cocktails. The evening kicked off with a talk from ELLE’s Acting Executive Fashion Editor, Anna Ogundehin, who gave tips on what statement pieces to invest in this winter (a parka being one of them) and gave some inspiring words on how every girl can be an ELLE girl – she went from being a shop girl at a Ted Baker store to fashion PR, to Fashion Editor. ELLE Features Assistant, Natalie Evans Harding, was also on hand to chat about the mechanics of a magazine and how the content is put together to develop a glossy Bible each month. The night ended with a DJ spinning some tunes, and fashionistas shopping up a storm with a gifted H&M discount card.
This week we also got a sneak peek to the much buzzed about Versace range for H&M. Donatella has brought a whole lotta glamourous attitude to the collection – think studded leather and busy prints. The palm tree print from JLO’s iconic Grammys dress appears across the men’s and woman’s range, but the standout piece for me is a hot pink studded mini (below). The collection will hit stores on November 17.
