Glitzy Lips – How to get lips that pop

For Christmas I got an awesome gift from Maskara (the same peeps that bring in Minx nails) filled with all sorts of goodies. Inside was one of their fairly new products, Glitzy Lips – think of it like shiny bling for your lips.

It comes in a box like this. Inside there’s a little jar with foil as well as a lip adhesive.

You apply the adhesive to your lips, wait for it to dry, then apply the foil, press it in, then pull off like a band-aid and viola – glitzy lips.

Easy enough right? Well not quite. The box does have instructions, but they are not very clear. I failed in my first few attempts because I was putting the foil on the wrong way round. I wasn’t sure how the product worked, so I assumed the shiny bit is what would stick to the lip surface. Anyways I was like, yeah ok this stuff doesn’t work, until I watched this video on youtube (how did we live before YT).

So I tried again. The result – seriously glitzy lips!

This is how the foil looks when you’ve pulled it off. The foil side must not be touching your lips when you apply it over the glue.

This is the other side of the foil, this is the side you appy to your lips.

I don’t think it’s a look you can wear everyday, but it’s definitely a cool look if you’re going for a seriously dramatic look at a party! It lasts pretty long, although you are not supposed to eat or drink – otherwise it can end up flaking off.

The hardest part for me was getting the foil to fill into the sides of the lips and in the centre where its naturally a bit moist. But the great thing is you can keep re-applying the foils over until you fill in all the gaps.

It looks nice but not my idea of lip fun… So much easier to just use a normal gloss or lipstick..
