It’s Fashion Week (as if you didn’t know) so here are the best bits from the first autumn/winter shows in New York.
I never thought I’d say this but Victoria’s collection is actually up there as one of my faves *shock*. Albeit her designs are a lot like the clothes she wears, the collection comprised of sleek, structured pieces that were a lot less “posh” and a bit more “lush”.
There was a distinct military, sports-luxe theme (inspired by her hubby perhaps?) but feminine nonetheless.
Proenza Schouler is always a favourite of mine, the their autumn/winter collection is no exception. It’s what I like to call it the “slouchy chic” – pleated trousers, loose fitting jackets with a mixture of leather, metallic and mosaic embroidery. The biker just got pretty.
It’s no wonder Marchesa is loved by Hollywood A-listers. A stream of swan goddesses (read: models) floated down the runway in flowy gowns, complete with feathers and embellishments.
How do I describe Vera’s A/W 12/13 range? It’s sort of whimsical, sort of bad ass. Think sheer chiffon tunics and dresses with overlayers of more structured, “armour” type pieces and shrugs.
Front Row highlights:
Fashion royalty, Anna Wintour and queen of the socialites, Olivia Palermo were spotted everywhere.
Gossip girl Leighton Meester was front Vera Wang, and Blake Lively was snapped at Noon by Noor.
Beauties Amanda Heard & Jessica Alba (above) were perched together at Michael Kors, and the most buzzed about appearance was at Victoria Beckham, where hubby David brought little baby Harper to the show. His front row seat was next to, who else, but Anna Wintour.
And…I was lucky enough to lend a helping hand at London Fashion Week – full scoop next week.
