Sheer Trend

Sheer Trend

When people say sheer, you automatically think see through. And yes the Rihannas and Katy Perrys of this world will don a risque “peek-a-boo” sheer look, but I’m talking romantic, not risque. Think floaty maxis, draping and soft silhouettes.

I personally love the more obvious black sheer in the form of a maxi skirt. It goes perfectly with a simple tee and embellished sandals for day, and neutral heels and a boyfriend blazer for night. Charlize personified the sheer look in a off the shoulder Christian Dior Couture gown at a movie premiere here in London last week.

Pastel shades are a huge trend here too, so sheer doesn’t have to mean black. A couple of days ago at Cannes, Diane Kruger walked the red carpet in a beautiful sheer mint coloured Giambattista Valli gown. On the runway, Mulberry showcased a neutral coloured maxi skirt, with lots of layers so it wasn’t see through.

Dior also ranged a more subtle sheer look in the form of chiffon necklines and billowing sleeves. Valentino worked lace into the sheer trend, toning it down completely, as worn by Emma Watson below.
