Beauty Trend: Bold Brows

Eyebrows are back. I’m loving this trend since I’ve always had full (read: bushy) eyebrows myself and my mother always told me that brows define the face – she was right.

Bold brows have a certain old Hollywood resonance. Icons like Elizabeth Taylor and Sophia Loren always had thick, prominent eyebrows, since I guess they just didn’t have waxing and threading in those days.

Rocking the best brows today are Burberry model Cara Delevingne, Arizona Muse and Kate Bosworth.

Strong, dark brows were seen on blonde and brunette models alike at both Derek Lam and Victoria Beckham for spring/summer, and the trend is continuing for the rest of the year.  So now when I say bold brows I’m talking messy, fluffy caterpillars – not overgrown monos.

Strong brows can be a “ta-da” no brow pencil needed affair, like mine, but those of you who are big tweezer fans, creating full brows will need a bit more work. The best trick is to fill with a dark shadow and then use a brush gel to keep brows in place. Bobbi Brown has a great brow set with two dark shadows, brush and tiny tweezers. MAC also have a range of long lasting brow gels (that look like mascara wands) in brown and clear.

Bold brows are prefect for this season’s dewy, natural skin look. Complete this looks with a soft pink lip and tousled hair, as seen on actress Lily Collins below.
