Burberry’s Male Metallica

It’s all about the men at Milan Fashion Week, and unsurprisingly it’s Burberry Prorsum’s S/S 2013 collection that’s making all the headlines. Christopher Bailey’s bringing sexy back to metallics – yep!¬†

Chrome and all things shiny has been trending for the past couple of seasons, but you ain’t seen nothing yet. Bailey has taken his signature trench and spruced things up a little (a lot) showcasing new and improved mint, blue and fushia trenches for spring. The same colour palette was used for a range of metallic collared shirts. And not forgetting matching metallic footwear in the form of sandals (with socks) – looks fab on Burberry models, but I’m thinking not so fab on the average guy.

Metallic aside, the collection also featured the classic Burberry slim-fit suit, and shoes with coloured soles (but not red –¬†Louboutin watch out!) The most sought after piece is this two-toned bomber jacket (below).

The collection has been described as ‘Quality Street like”, and I’m calling it casual-chic-crazy-cool (only Christopher Bailey can make a dude in a lilac metallic shirt look cool). Let’s face it “summer” in the UK needs inverted commas cos it doesn’t come round that often, and this multicoloured metallic collection just made our summer outerwear a whole lot more interesting.
