Prints are bigger than ever, and our little feathered friends have made their mark too. Seen on the runways of Marc Jacobs, Giles and Carolina Herrera, bird print is said to symbolise a free spirit – who knew?
As with all prints, you can either go loud and proud or subtle and sweet. If making a statement is what you’re after, then look to Marc Jacobs who ranged a collection of bright bird print dresses, or Giles where giant swan print tees were paired with metallic trousers. I tend to get bored of prints really easy, and if you do too, then consider a pair of bird print trousers or an abstract bird print top which then allows you to mix and match with different pieces. I’ll be looking to Burberry Prorsum for inspiration, since they’ve taken this trend into autumn with these embellished owl jerseys and tees.
And if prints just isn’t your thing, then accessories are just for you. Cuffs, chunky rings, body bags, and printed scarves are all big this season – I love this gold Nyoni bird cuff from ASOS.
