The Best Eggs Benedict in Durbs – Arts Café

If you’re in Durban and looking for a great place to have brunch on a lazy Sunday morning, look no further than the Arts Café in Glenwood, Durban.

A fabulous venue with a fabulous menu!

They make the most amazing Eggs Benedict you’ve ever tasted! A perfect recipe, made with just the right amount of Hollandaise sauce, so that you can still taste the other ingredients.

I’m all about fabulous food that looks and tastes good, but I also like to taste the different flavours and textures of the meal. Their Eggs Benedict is definitely a winner. I tried the spinach, while my other (and better) half, had the salmon on Sunday and we both agree, they are the best we’ve had! Cooked to perfection, so that when you “dig in” and cut the egg, the yolk pours out, while the egg whites stay firm and properly cooked.

While you’re there you simply have to try their Spanish coffee. It’s coffee served in a glass (as apposed to a cup or mug) and flavoured with citrus and cinnamon! Mmmm! Totally unique and a must for all coffee lovers.

The Arts Café is trendy and has a lovely atmosphere. Whenever we’ve been there on a Sunday,we’ve enjoyed it. Often, people bring their kids and other kids (their pets) along to play in the Arts Café’s mini-park (or the bigger park just outside the restaurant). After breakfast you can enjoy a stroll through the gallery, admiring the art or find a lovely, unique treasure for your home from the KZNSA shop, gallery store.

I could spend hours in the store with it’s  unique little pieces scattered all over the place. Here are some pics I snapped with my iPhone.

I couldn’t resist getting myself one of these very cute Jonathan Adler-esque ceramic face bowls that I had spotted there once before. They come in different sizes and are painted with a different colour inside. Great for serving dips and snacks! My one sits on my desk and I’m using it to store some desk-essentials like paper clips and drawing pins.

This little “Mouse Rug” was also a really great find! It’s a mini persian carpet for your mouse! It’s not just made to look like a rug, it looks the real deal and actually feels like a carpet. Sadly (and stupidly) I did’nt get myself one, but really want one, so next time I’m in the area, she will be mine!

How cute are these unique salt and pepper shaker sets? They had a few varieties of matching styles that would definitely make an interesting convo piece at the dinner table!

I absolutely love The Arts Cafe. Great service, friendly waiters, delicious food and a wonderful ambiance!
