Say Hello To My New Favourite Foundation from Stila and other fab Goodies

Stila is one of two international makeup ranges that is new to South Africa, and I for one am super excited that they are finally here!

I’m a huge beauty vlogger stalker addict on Youtube, which means I’ve heard so much about this brand already and always been a little jealous that I couldn’t get to try out any of the products that the beauty gurus rave about.Stila being one of them.

Stila is brand out of Los Angeles and is available worldwide, from America to London and now, finally in South Africa. Watch out ladies, as this brand may just replace your current faves as it’s done mine!

I got to try out three products from Stila and am really impressed with their Stay All Day Foundation & Concealer. So much in fact, that it’s currently at the top of my fave foundation list! Other foundations in this list include; Chanel Perfection Lumiere, Makeup Forever HD and MAC Studio Fix – so that’s already gives you an idea of what types of foundation I like!

Besides it’s awesome coverage and true “stay all day” powers, there are so many things I love about this foundation. Firstly, the shade I’m wearing (medium 9) is spot-on perfect for me! I have an olive skin with yellow undertones and hate foundations with any pink or ivory in them. Medium 9, is quite yellow, and although it looks dark at first, once I’ve blended it in, its magical!

Mine came with a mini Stila 35 brush, that’s great for applying this foundation. I also love the clever packaging. It comes with an extra tall lid, that pops off. At the top of the lid is a small cap that flicks open to reveal a creamy, gorgeous concealer and mirror. The bottle itself is made from a high quality plastic and has a screw top with an extra large well.

The screw-top lid has a built in spatula/ spoon that allows you to scoop out your foundation, and really get every last drop out! No more bashing the bottle on the back of your hand to try force out product or over pouring! This is a great product for any beauty bag, and especially for professional makeup artists. Plastic bottles are better than glass to cart around and won’t break as easily. The spatula application equals more hygiene when using the foundation on different faces and you don’t even need to buy more concealers! I’m really considering this foundation for my professional kit once I qualify!

Price wise, Stila Stay All Day Foundation costs R395. Now, when you consider that you’re also getting a complete matching concealer, it’s really not bad at all!

Another great product that is definitely going into my professional kit is the Stila Set & Correct Baked Powder Trio – (R295). It features a trio of setting powders, including; peach, green and lavender. This combo helps to colour correct, brighten and prime the skin with one quick twist! The formula is lightweight and sets your foundation beautifully without looking caked!

The peach tone brightens and illuminates while the green reduces redness and the lavender counteracts any dark undertones. It’s a lovely way to finish, set and seal your makeup! I used to use MAC Blot Powder after my makeup, but prefer to use this one as it has the correcting benefits.

The last product I got to try from Stila, is their One Step Bronze (R330) – a beautiful, multi-toned bronzer and skin tone illuminator cream in one. The product looks so awesome and you can see the twirls of different colours that help to create a flawless glow.

It’s a wonderful product that’s perfect for summer and I love how it really does make the skin glow. I’ve tried it on my whole face, for overall bronzing and then also just to highlight the top of my cheekbones. You can also use this product on it’s own, on top of or under your foundation. When you use it before foundation, it works as an amazing primer too! Stila One Step Bronzealso helps to smooth out and hide any imperfections, so if you suffer from fine lines, you won’t notice them nearly as much.

I am absolutely hooked on all three products and can’t wait to try out more of their awesome goodies! I’ll keep you posted, so stay tuned!

Stila is available from selected Woolworths and Truworths stores. They have already opened counters at Gateway Woolies and Truworths, Truworths Tygervalley and for Jozi peeps, you can find Stila at Woolworths in Eastgate, East Rand Mall and Sandton.

Have you tried any Stila Products before? What are your faves?

HI there D, I just read your article now regarding your reviews on BB and CC stuff and this one caught my attention too. In relation to STILA products, when you go to Woolies/Truworths, are their knowledgeable staff on hand to guide us in choosing the correct tone for our skin or is it a DIY process?
    Thanks for amazing blog!

      Hi Lissa
Thanks for the comment and for your kind words :).

To be honest, I’ve had a lot of different levels of service from any beauty counter. But to put your mind at ease, the Stila stuff, for example, at the Gateway Woolies is grouped with all the “higher end” ranges, so there is generally someone around there to help. Its not like the drugstore brand displays at Clicks for example.

If you need help matching your shade, here’s what I suggest! Go into the store, try the foundation shade that you think would look best. Try to match it to your neck and chest (not your hand) and apply it to your face. Have a look at it in the store light, and then walk around with it. While you’re shopping, see what it looks like under different light – especially natural light. A lot of beauty counters have such extreme light that washes away the colour and makes it look right, but then you notice a big difference when you’re out in natural light.

Dont ever feel obliged to purchase foundation on a whim. When you’re buying something that costs more, you want to be 100% sure it’s the right shade for you.

The nice thing about Stila, with their BB cream is that it suits all skin tones. One product! I know, hard to believe, but it’s true 🙂

      Hope this helps
