A Day of Spoils at Brigit Filmer Spa

Remember I tweeted about my very hectic, jam packed day last week Tuesday? Well today, I’ll tell you all about it!

I was lucky enough to experience a Spa Day at one of my fave Spa’s in the country, Brigit Filmer Spa. I have been before, but only for a facial. This time I got to experience the Spa the way one should experience a spa, in complete bliss!

When I arrived at Brigit Filmer Spa, I was greeted with friendly faces, a warm towel and freshly squeezed orange juice. From there, I was taken to the ladies room where a locker (which even had my name on it) was ready and waiting for me.

After I had a quick shower, I changed into my swimsuit and snugly Brigit Filmer Spa gown, and was taken up to the Hydrotherapy area. It had been booked out just for me and I spent an hour enjoying it.

There was lunch waiting for me; a magnificent chicken salad fit for a King! I couldn’t finish it, even though I really wanted to glup it all down. After lunch I spent the rest of the hour enjoying the Hydrotheraphy area, all by myself and in complete bliss and harmony!

I spent some time in the Sauna, which was my fave! Then moved onto the Steam room and finished it off with a dip in the Jacuzzi. I could’ve also tried out the pool, and although it’s apparently great for you to go from hot into cold, I just wasn’t brave enough – maybe in summer!?

The Hydrotheraphy experience alone was amazing! You can book out this area, to be used exclusively by you for only R190, which also includes lunch! Just make sure you book in advance! You can chill out in the hydro treatment rooms or lounge around while you have your lunch! It’s up to you.

My Spa day continued, with a 45 minute back massage (R310 for a 40 min Swedish Back Massage), done by the lovely Caryn. Even though I was pretty  relaxed after my hour of hydro-awesomeness, the massage was just the cherry on top!

Caryn focused on relaxing and easing my muscles, using a blend of calming oils in a water-soluble grapeseed base.

She massaged and sorted out all my tension, I could have dozed off to the tranquil sounds of the music playing, but, there was still a facial to be enjoyed…

I had a Mesoesthetic Glycopeel (R495) booked with the lovely Jenna and because I had the Durban July in 3 days, I was a little nervous that I would peel (like Samantha’s Sex and The City Movie moment!) Thankfully, I didn’t!

Jenna left the peel on for a short time, as my skin felt very sensative, and I’d be lying if I said it didn’t hurt! Although it only stings when it’s on, I’m a complete baby, and I don’t like pain. After two minutes of leaving the peel on, Jenna neutralized my skin and applied a specialized mask, that was left on to soothe and nourish my skin. That part I loved!

Jenna also gave me some advice on suncare and recommended some treatments/ products that could help my pigmentation. She also gave me a few sample products from the Mesoasthetic range to continue the benefits of the facial at home.

My Spa day finished off with a 90 minute Total Foot Spa, Brigit Filmer’s “Rolls-Royce” of pedicures. It was done by the bubbly Pearl, who worked her magic on my feet. She exfoliated them and applied this amazing hydrating mask. While the mask was on, she attended to grooming my toe nails.

I just sat back and enjoyed the treats on my feet, all whilst sipping on a yummy Cappuccino, made by Brigit Filmer’s “in house” barista – Innocent. His name may be Innocent, but he is guilty of making the best Cappuccino in town! It was dee-lish!

Following the mask was a hot stone massage, followed by a parrafin treatment, and just when you thought it couldn’t get any better than that, Pearl massaged my hands while the parrafin was left on.

She finished off by painting my toes in a gorgeous OPI pink.

All in a days work! Four hours of hard, hard, work – well, not for me, but for the lovely ladies at Brigit Filmer Spa.

Thanks so much to Brigit Filmer for having me. Caryn, Jenna, Pearl, Innocent and Rochelle, you guys made me feel like a princess! Let’s do it again, and soon!!! xxx
