Stila In The Light Palette Review on StyleScoopMag.com

I finally got my hands on the amazing “In The Light” eye shadow palette from Stila, and boy do I love it!

Just about every beauty blogger has raved about it, and it was actually sold out in South Africa, so I couldn’t even get my hands on it.

Thankfully the lovely ladies at Stila SA sent me one as soon as it arrived back in the country, and I haven’t been able to put it down since! It’s been my go-to makeup palette for the past week or so and I’m sure it will stick around for much longer!

The palette consists of 10 absolutely amazing colours, plus a waterproof smudge stick. There is a combination of solid shades as well as shimmer shadows. But don’t think cheap and nasty shimmer – the shimmer shadow pigments are tightly packed, so you don’t get big blobs of shimmer on your eye lid, but rather a smooth, silky effect.

All of the shades are highly pigmented and on application there is very little fall out. They also stay put all day! This is a big thing for me, as I have oily lids and shadows usually start to shift around after a couple of hours. I’ve become very good with priming my lids, but even so, I still have shadow shifting with certain brands. Stila eye shadows stay put!

The colours in this palette are simple and pretty and can be used by anyone with any eye colour.

Great for simple looks and more prominent looks, since you can use these shadows wet (by dipping your brush in a bit of water before dipping it into the shadow).

The best thing about this palette, is how well all the shades compliment each other. They can be used alone or mixed and matched to create loads of looks.

If you need help, the palette also comes with a handy in the light eye shadow palette lookbookthat has six different, very easy to create looks. My favourite is the “Smoky Luster”.

If you’ve had your eye on this palette before, go get it now before it sells out again. If you’re looking for the perfect, all in one eye shadow palette – then this one is for you!

You can purchase this palette right now online (South Africa) or here for international readers.

If you’ve used this palette, I’d love to know your thoughts…

Please post some pics of some of the looks you have tried? Hardly any bloggers have posted pics of them with the product on. That would really help me what it looks like.

      Hi Nikki

Good plan! I will get to work on some of those looks soon! I’ve mostly done the looks from the little booklet that came with the palette, and since they are so diverse, I really haven’t had to think about doing anything different.

Keep an eye out and thanks for visiting StyleScoop

OMG! Buying it right now, Dim! I need to buy more palettes (learning makeup too), do you know if we can get Naked here?

    • October 4, 2013 / 4:02 pm

Cam you will LOVE it! I do love my Chanel, Inglot and Mac eye shadows, but this Stila palette is a great “no brainer” kind of palette that can be used by anyone! Plus the eye shadow is amazing quality!

I don’t think we can get Naked here in SA, at least I haven’t found it!

If you’re that desperate for it there is a way! You’ll need to register a MyUS account (www.myus.com) and then you can buy the palette online from Urban Decay or Sephora and have it sent to your MYUS address who will then send to SA. That’s how I purchased my Real Techniques brushes as they don’t send to SA.

You might have your parcel held at Customs for a while becuase the health board may need to check the contents. It might not get stopped, but just so you are aware. This happened to me when I ordered my Z Palettes from the US and they were just empty makeup palettes. But, becuase the invoice said “makeup” they kept it for about 2 weeks to do checks.

      Hope this helps

Thanks Dim! I am also going to UK in December, so I’ll scout a bunch of beauty buys there! Let me know of you’d like for me to bring you anything back xxx

My favourite palette! I use it nearly every day and my favourite shades in it are kitten, bliss and sunset. 🙂

I’ve also been using mine daily! It’s so versatile.

My fave colours are bliss and sunset – the only one I haven’t really worked yet is Midnight Sky – but I’m getting there 🙂 Kitten is also gorgeous!!!
