Exciting New Beauty & Skin Launches… Collagen Drinks, Real Techniques Bold Metals, Nutri Fillers, Quick Fixes and More

A ton of fantastic new products have landed on my desk recently, and since I want to keep you gals in the loop sooner rather than later, I’ve put together this little post to tell you all about them…

It’s a rather lengthy one, so you may just want to get comfy, but I’ve tried to make it as short and sweet as possible…

Kiehl’s BB Cream and Blur

So these babies launched in July, but I wanted to give them a try before I tell you about them – not that I’ve ever been disappointed by anything from Kiehl’s!

Kiehl's-BB-Cream-and-Blur

Ok so let’s start with the Kiehl’s Micro-Blur Skin Perfector (R510).

With LHA, Bark and Lentil Extract, it’s a lightweight skin smoothing formula that blurs out the skin, improving the appearance of pores instantly. Over time, the product is said to improve skin texture too – BONUS. I love how it glides on the skin and instantly gives my skin a nice canvas to work on.

Think of it as the ultimate face primer – with added benefits!

Also from Kiehl’s is their Dematologist Solutions Actively Correcting & Beautifying BB Cream SPF50/ PA+++ (R525). A mouthfull of a name, but that’s what I love about Kiehl’s – you know exactly what you are getting without any fancy names. Plain and simple!

Available in 5 shades, to suit South African skin tones – it’s a nice BB Cream that has longterm correcting benefits, while at the same time giving you a quick fix. For me, I can’t use it on it’s own – the coverage just isn’t enough to go makeup free (thanks pigmentation), but if you’re looking for just a wee bit of coverage with a ton of benefits then definitely give this one a go.

Filorga Nutri-Filler

YAY for another exciting Filorga launch! You gals know how much I love this brand and I’m so in love with the new Filorga Nutri-Filler Regenerating Anti-Aging Balm (R915).

filorga-nutri-filler

It’s a day cream targeted for more mature, demanding skin that’s in need of moisture and nutrition. Packed with Shea Butter and Argan Oil, it’s a buttery soft cream that gives your skin much needed love after our dry and cold winter.

Additionally it has Davilla Rugosa, a plant extract that protects collagen against glycation, free radical attacks and collagenases. It also has Red Algae Based active ingredients to remodel the skin contours and Filorga’s patented NCTF anti-aeging formula which assists in plumping and firming the skin.

All round, a winner! Available at selected Edgars and Red Square stores this August.

Micellar Cleansing Waters from Garnier

I love Micellar Cleansing Waters because they are so much gentler on the skin than water itself and these two from Garnier; Garnier Micellar Cleansing Water for Dry/ Sensitive Skin (R79.00) and Garnier Pure Active Micellar Cleansing Water for Combination/ Oily Skin (R79.99) are mega awesome because they are priced really well and you get a whole lot of product – 400ml’s to be exact – which is enough for around 200 uses.

With Micellar Cleansing Waters you don’t need to wash or rinse your skin, so you don’t risk stripping your skin of it’s protective barrier.

Both of these work wonders at removing makeup, cleaning impurities and they leave your skin refreshed without feeling taught – which is often the case with water.

Love, love, love them and they are so pretty to boot!

For now, Garnier Micellar Waters are only available in Clicks, but will be available nationwide in October.

BABOR New Skin Fluids

BABOR is an amazing skincare brand that has been ranked as one of the Top 50 Luxury brands in Germany by German connoisseur publication – Luxury Business Report 2015.

One of their rockstar products that I got to try, is their New Skin Fluids (R732) which are basically, amps of awesomeness!

If your skin is flaky, uneven or dull, one little ampule is highly concentrated to regenerate the upper layers of the skin leaving it instantly happier. They contain an innovative Lipid Repair Complex that is formulated with Ceramides, White Lupin and Plantain to restore the skin’s barrier for healthier, glowing skin.

My skin lately has been extremely undernourished – so far that my makeup blotches off a few hours after application (which is highly annoying). It’s been dry, dull and just not happy to say the least and this product, even after just one use, made a huge difference and perked it up.

They are very expensive as you only get 7 ampules per pack, which works out to roughly R105 a pop, but they work, and you don’t use them every day – only when your skin needs a “quick fix”

The first one I tried, my skin soaked up the entire 2ml bottle – which just goes to show how thirsty it was for this stuff. However on my second bottle that I popped after five days, I managed to use half at night and half the next morning and with the same, happy skin result!

Dermalogica Multivitamin Power Firm

If your skin is in need of repair, then another product you may want to consider is Dermalogica Multivitamin Power Firm (R740/ 40ml).

It’s a nice, smooth cream that helps to speed up the skin’s recovery process and is ideal for the delicate skin around the eyes – although I’ve been applying it to the nasolabial folds (mouth lines) – since I already have quite pronounced ones, that only get worse with age.

Dermalogica Multivitamin Power Firm is packed with Vitamin A (Retinol), Vitamin C and E to improve elasticity and fight free radicals while giving your skin a protective barrier against more damage.

The formula is smooth and fills in lines pretty dang well, making it a great primer too as it gives your skin a nice even texture for perfect makeup application.

Collagen Lift Paris

In my seven years of blogging, I’ve seen, tried and tested a ton of beauty products and I’d have to say that this Collagen drink from Collagen Lift Paris (R680) has intrigued me the most.

collagen-lift-paris

Collagen Lift Paris is a daily drinkable collagen supplement (you break the ampoule and down the juice) that is said to reduce wrinkles by up to 50%.

Collagen Lift Paris contains Ulva Mediterranea Seaweed, Vitamin C and something called Verisol (collagen peptides that are absorbed by the body within 30 minutes), it’s made in France and contains no added sugar.

I wont lie, the taste isn’t great, but it’s not bad either. You’re supposed to mix it in a glass of water or juice (juice would probably be better), but I prefer to just down it and get it over with 😛

Whether it works or not, I can’t tell you (yet), but since I’m at that age where wrinkles are a concern – I’m willing to try it all!

Having a look at the ingredients, I don’t think it would do any harm to give it a try and see what happens after 3-6 weeks. Holding thumbs!

Collagen Lift Paris is only available from their website, www.collagenliftparis.com and costs R680 for a box of 28 ampoules, which is one month’s supply.

Dermaceutic Activ Retinol 0.5

I’m currently trying out Dermaceutic Activ Retinol 0.5 (R700,) which is a medium strength retinol based anti ageing serum.

dermaceutic-activ-retinol-0.5

In their clinical trials, they found a decrease in wrinkle depth, specifically around the eye contour and crow’s feet area while skin hydration, elasticity and skin texture was improved.

I’ve only used it a couple of times (at night) and hoping that it does the trick.

Real Techniques Bold Metals

I’ve saved the most exciting news for last!

Drum Roll…

Ladies, Real Techniques brushes, the best makeup brushes in the history of the universe, are finally available in SA!

YAY!

real-techniques-bold-metals-pointed-crease-brush

I’m a long time fan of the original Real Techniques (core) brushes but their latest, luxury range, Bold Metals, is on a whole different level!

I got to try out the amazing Real Techniques Bold Metals 201 Pointed Crease Brush (R299.95) and I think this may just be my best blending brush yet!

It’s extremely soft, with superior, luxury bristles. The brush itself is beautiful and lightweight and I do love that it’s longer than the original RT brushes. The pointed edge makes it even easier to blend out shadow with precision, and since the bristles are quite dense, it picks up just enough shadow to create blended out creases.

There are three eye brushes (in silver metal), and four face brushes (two in a brass finish and two in a gold finish) and even though I have more than enough brushes, I need, I need, I need!

The two that are really on my lust list are the Flat Contour Face Brush (R399.95) and the Triangle Foundation Brush (R399.95).

You can find the original Real Techniques brushes at selected Foschini Stores, while the Real Techniques Bold Metals collection is currently only available at Clicks Eastgate.

Amazing, Amazing, Amazing!

I’m excited! Are you?

These are wonderful products! I recently found out that collagen is good for hair skin nails and our joints! That is why I find the COLLAGEN LIFT so appealing! The Khiel’s BB cream is a must have for me!!

Thanks for your comment Mary. Collagen is good for skin and hair, even nails – so I’m hoping the added vitamins will give me a boost 🙂

That RT brush looks like its from out of this world – intergalactic almost. You should do a make up video showing how you use the brush, Dimi.

Haha Lalannie. I’m afraid I suck at videos, but maybe one day I’ll brave the Tube and just do it 🙂

But if its a demo you want, then who better to guide you on how to use the brush other than one of the creators (and my fave youtube beauty gals), Pixiwoo – https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kmbGE17TPXg
