Have You Tried These?

YAY for more affordable, drugstore winners!

I love me some high end beauty indulgences, but you know what, there are some absolute gems at the drugstore, and today I’m sharing six skin and body products that are worth checking out …

drugstore-picks-2

Garnier Micellar Oil Infused Cleansing Water & Wipes

I’m most excited for the new Garnier Micellar Oil Infused range. I’m a huge fan of Micellar water, and count the Garner Micellar Cleansing Water as my favourite drugstore option. But this new take on  Micellar Cleansers, infused with oil to further remove makeup and dirt is just fabulous.

I normally use a cleansing oil to remove my makeup, which requires rinsing with water, so it kinda defeats the purpose of using Micellar water.

The Garnier Micellar Oil Infused Cleansing Water is perfect for me, since I can eliminate all traces of makeup without a drop of water on my face. YAY

To use, just shake it up, then apply some on a cotton pad and Bob’s your uncle.

For days when my makeup is minimal; -as in tinted moisturiser and a bit of mascara- one cotton pad drenched in Garnier Micellar Oil Infused Cleansing Water is enough. I use one side of the cotton pad to swipe away makeup and then the backside to ensure it’s all gone.

For most days when I’m wearing foundation and all that eye makeup, I do go through a couple of drenched cotton pads. Probably around 3 or 4 depending on how well my makeup has lasted, but I love taking it off with this stuff!

It leaves my skin feeling nice and clean without irritation. Big thumbs up to this gem of a product!

Then, there’s also the Garnier Micellar Oil Infused Cleansing Wipes which are the bees knees!

They work like a dream at removing every trace of makeup, and I love keeping a stash of these on my vanity to fix up any makeup errors as well.

These are also great for lazy days when you don’t feel like going to the bathroom to remove your makeup, and you can just swipe the night away.

VICHY Aqualia Thermal Dynamic Hydration Power Serum

Sticking with skin goodies, I got to try out the new Vichy Aqualia Thermal Dynamic Hydration Power Serum and it’s an absolute treat to boost your skin’s hydration levels, PLUS it’s easily available from the drugstore!

It really blew me away!

Coming out of the dreaded, dry and skin breaking Jozi winter, my skin really needed a boost of hydration. It wasn’t that it was only dry on the surface, it was dehydrated from within. Even when I loaded on my moisturiser, it would crumble off – similar to the little flakes you get when you use an eraser on a piece of paper.

I just received this new launch so I decided to give it a try! It worked wonders, giving my skin a nice boost of hydration almost overnight.

It’s amazing how my skin literally soaked it up, not leaving any filmy layers on top like you get with a lot of “hydration products”. Vichy Aquaria Thermal Dynamic Hydration Power Serum is the real deal!

It has a fluid like texture and the secret to its hydration boost is thanks to 3 hydrating sugars: Hyaluronic Acid, Aquabioryl, and λ-Carragheenans. These work together to boost the distribution of water among cells and provide better moisture retention.

Such a fab product, and definitely worth a check out if your skin is suffering the effects of winter.

LUX Sheer Twilight Body Wash

Oh em gee! The LUX perfumed body washes are amazing aren’t they?

Since trying out the Soft Touch collection last year, I’ve been keeping them on hand all the time. They are affordable, they smell amazing (with fine fragrance) and they are just so indulgent!

I normally buy the “Salon size” which is 750ml, and I’ve been going for the Soft Caress one because I like how it smells and the white bottle matches my bathroom lol. Since LUX sent over the Sheer Twilight Body Wash for me to try, I now have a new favourite!

This one smells so opulent and gorgeous. Intense, with a prominent black orchid scent that’s good enough to eat.

It makes my entire bathtime routine a real luxury, and one that I can afford to keep up.

Cetaphil Restoraderm

If you’re looking for an affordable body moisturiser that will bring your dry, winter skin back to life, then this is it!

The Cetaphil Resoraderm Skin Restoring Body Moisturiser is formulated specifically for dry, itchy skin – like mine had been feeling towards the end of winter.

It’s fragrance free, so it’s not “indulgent” as such, but when it comes to boosting the moisture of your skin, it works like a charm!

I actually got this one last year sometime, and it’s been hiding behind my hoards of beauty products. It was only when I got chatting to my friend and fellow beauty blogger Candice, who was going on about how great it was, that I started digging for it.

Last year when I tried it my skin was dry, but nothing like it has been this year. So when I used it initially,  I was like ehhh it’s okay, because I couldn’t tell the difference. It didn’t smell or feel amazing, so I just put it aside.

But this year, with skin like toast, I could feel a major improvement, after using Cetaphil Resoraderm and now I am converted!

I had extremely dry patches on my legs, back and shoulders a few weeks ago, so I started loading up on this moisturizer. By day two, my skin was already looking way, way better and now, I’m happy to say that it’s as smooth as a baby’s bottom.

Dettol Hygiene Fresh Wipes

Okay, let’s just agree that wet wipes are a must have! A must have for your car, your handbag, your gym bag and your everything else bag, because they are so versatile and always come in handy.

I love these new little Dettol Personal Care Wipes, because they give you the benefit of a wet wipe on hand, in a totally cute and compact size, but since they are from Dettol, you can rest assured that they will help you get rid of 99.9% of germs.

Being from Dettol, which is famous for its germ zapping Antiseptic Liquid, you might expect them to smell a little more clinical, but they smell quite delightful! You can’t even tell they are germ fighting.

I love the Fresh variant because they smell amazingly, lemony and zesty and they don’t dry out my hands. They’re also pre-moisturised to leave your skin feeling great after use.

Have you gals tried any new products lately that have blown you away? Comment below, I’d love to hear about them!
