My Summer Mixtape

October 14, 2016

Remember the days when you’d create your own mixtape filled with songs you love? I remember sitting on top of the radio, with a cassette (ah ha, those good old things) ready to go and my finger eagerly on the record button. Today it’s much easier to create playlists, thanks to all the awesome music listening tools and apps available online. One that I’ve been loving lately is Spotify, and it’s an awesome way to create playlists (AKA the modern day version of a mixtape) and share it with the world.

So I’ve put together a mixtape of my favourite tunes for the Summer of 2016/17. My taste in music is quite varied, and I don’t believe that I fall into any single category. I can go from listening to commercial “cheese” as some would call it, to hard rock, to metal, to 8o’s to classical music, it all just depends on my mood.

For summer though, I love listening to hip, feel good songs that amplify the spirit of summer, and right now these tunes are on repeat. Some old, mostly new, but all round a great selection of songs for feel good vibes.

There’s a couple of local loves on my playlist too, which I’m super excited about! Nothing like some home grown sounds! At the moment, I’m obsessed with the latest track from Mark Stent Come Back Home, and there’s a couple of tracks there from GoodLuck and TIMO ODV which just goes to show we have some epic talent right here at the tip of Africa!

Oh and speaking of summer and feel good, I’m mildly obsessed with the new L’Oreal MEGA VOLUME Miss Hippie Mascara! It is, in one word, ABSO-FREAKING-LUTELY-AMAZING (yeah, I kinda extended a whole lotta words, but lets go with it ok!). L’Oreal has really hit the nail on the head with their mascara’s lately, and for a drugstore affordable brand, their mascara’s are killing it! KILLING IT!

If you’re all about the flutter lash, as I am, then you will want to add this baby to your summer makeup collection. It launches this month in South Africa and it gives you festival ready lashes! Think mega impact, with a feathery volume that makes your eyes pop! Top and bottom!

Happy weekend beauties

  • Am I being silly? I thought we couldn’t get Spotify in South Africa?

    • Hey Cam. You are not being silly at all, you can’t purchase Spotify in SA yet. However, I’ve managed to get the free App on my iPhone and the app for my MAC at home. I tried to purchase it so that I can have the tunes play offline, but alas, not available in SA. I can listen to them through wifi on the App though and there’s a couple of ads, but not to bad.

It works perfectly! I have it playing in the background right now 🙂

      • Thought I was going mad! Please send me the screenshot on your app store so I can try download the free one? xxx

        • Hey Cam, the app I’m using on my iPhone to stream Spotify is called Music Player Free & Playlist Manager by Louis Walton

          Hope this helps
