Inspired by Charles Youssef’s Twisted Half Bun creation, this is the result of how I worked this beautiful NYFW hair trend to suit my style!
This look was one of my favourite picks from the 5 NYFW HairStyles I shared a little while back, because it’s got that whole boho vibe going on. I love the mermaid waves and I kinda love how my bun turned out. It almost looks as thoughI’m wearing a flower crown made of hair don’t you think?!
For this look, I started out with the TRESemmé Beauty-Full Volume Range, including the conditioner, shampoo, volume booster and mousse. I washed my hair and let it air dry naturally.
Once dry, I applied a spritz of TRESemmé Heat Defence Spray and using my straightener, I created loose boho style waves. It took me ages to figure out how to use my flat iron to create curls, but I’ve finally nailed it!
Then I followed the steps for Look 5 over on this post.
After I was done I used my curling wand this time to create a few tighter, more defined curls and sprayed TRESemmé Firm Hold Hairspray all over to keep it in place.
My night time hair look was inspired by the Chic Bow as seen on the runway at Carolina Herrera.
I couldn’t believe how easy it was to recreate this one! I’m quite untidy when it comes to styling my hair, it almost never looks how I want it to, but I love how this look came out (and the half twisted bun above for that matter).
I followed these easy steps to create this look with a few of my own minor adjustments.
I washed and prepped my hair with the TRESemmé Beauty-Full Volume range, and spritzed it with a bit of TRESemmé Heat Defence Spray before blow drying it. Even though my hair is naturally straight, I ran my hair straightener through it just so that it would look sleeker, and then applied a teeny tiny amount of TRESemmé Oil Elixir which helped to keep it shiny.
Before I got onto the styling part, I sectioned the top of my hair and applied more TRESemmé Beauty-Full Volume Mousse to the roots, then blow dried it out. Although the look called for a more slicked back effect, I prefer to wear my hair more naturally so that it looks less “done”.
Then to hold everything in place, I sprayed a little TRESemmé Firm Hold Hairspray. This hairspray, while it gives hold, it doesn’t weigh my hair down too much, so I could keep the softness in the look.
For both of my NYFW inspired looks, I used the TRESemme Beauty-Full Volume range. I’ve actually only been using this range since I got a chance to try out the products over a month ago, and it’s become my new hair care staple!
No matter which way I want to style my hair, more va-va-volume is always a key factor for me. After all, you need a good foundation to build on your perfect hairstyle. Am I right?
That’s why I LOVE (yes, ALL CAPS LOVE) this range. Besides leaving my hair soft and full of bounce, styling my hair is such a breeze since it’s so much easier to manage. It feels fuller, healthier and instead of just hanging on my shoulders, my hair now cascades and has wonderful movement – just as it should!
What makes this hair care system unique? Well here’s the interesting thing about this range, which is unconventional yet genius! TRESemmé Beauty-Full Volume is a reverse haircare wash system – as in you first apply your conditioner and then shampoo.
I know! Sound’s pretty unorthodox, but it really works! For my hair, I cannot live without conditioner (since my hair gets very knotty), yet conditioners tend to weigh down my hair, which means, bye-bye volume!
This washcare system has been designed to give your hair that soft-to-the-touch feel without the weight. FIRST you condition your hair, which helps to soften and de-tangle it, and THEN you shampoo, to wash away the excess product that helps to reduce the weight. It’s pretty amazing how well it works – and trust me when I say, I was very sceptical at first.
Even when I just let it air dry naturally, it still looks beautiful and feels soft and healthy.
I’ve also been using the other two products in this range, including the Beauty-Full Volume Hair Maximizer and the Touchable Bounce Mousse.
On damp, towel dried hair, after brushing it out with my Tangle Teezer, I squeeze out some of the lightweight cream Hair Maximizer, rub my hands together and work it through my hair. It’s not sticky, it’s not icky and it helps smooth out the hair cuticle for polished hair with natural volume.
Then, straight after, I shake up my Touchable Bounce Mousse and work it into the roots of my hair while it’s still damp. This step helps me to maximize that volume without feeling dry, crunchy or sticky.
Such a lovely hair care range and one that is perfectly suited to my long, fine and flat hair.
I’ve had so much fun trying out these hair styles and now that my hair is fuller, bouncier and easier to manage, I think the summer of 2016 is going to be all about hair styles for me!
