I think it’s fair to say that we all have issues with our bodies. Some of us have an issue with our butt, our tummies, our thighs, our arms, even smaller things that people can’t see.
With me, I’m not the biggest fan of my legs – my knees in particular – or my ankles for that matter!
So when Skin & Body Renewal invited me to try out some Body Shaping treatments I was over the moon!
For as long as I can remember, and no matter how hard I’d try, my knees have always sucked – to put it frankly!
They had no shape, and the fact that the rest of my lower leg wasn’t shaped well either (ankles, I’m talking to you!), just made my knees stand out even more.
I wish I could blame it on genetics (let the parentals take the hit for this one), but it’s just me!
Both my parents, and my brother have good legs. Great legs in fact and legs with shape! Me… Well, I must’ve been standing in the wrong que!
Don’t get me wrong, I don’t hate my legs. I just don’t love them. They work, which is all that really matters, but if only they looked better.
Oh the dresses I would wear!
Legs have always been my thing! Probably because I’ve never liked mine? But I’ve always been a leg person!
My whole life I have been active (not that the past couple of months count) and even when I was a good weight for my height at 6kg lighter, there was nothing I could do about my knees and ankles.
Unlucky for me, that there isn’t really much that good eating habits and exercise can do about unshapely knees or shapeless ankles.
No matter how much you diet or exercise, your shape is your shape. You might get a better version of your shape with diet and exercise, but there is nothing you can really do to target and change the shape in those areas.
Or at least, that’s what I thought.
My problem – as I discovered following my treatments with Skin & Body Renewal – was more to do with poor circulation in my limbs, which led to their saggy appearance and thankfully, Skin Renewal had a treatment package to target just that!
I met with Dr Lestonn (who you may remember did my Fraxel Treatments last year) for an assessment into what can be done to improve the shape of my legs.
I’d go into the details of these treatments, but then today’s post will be really, really long!
So, for today, think of this as a little introduction and later on in the coming weeks, I’ll post all the details on my treatments and what you can expect etc.
I finished up with my program last month and wanted to give it some time before I mentioned it to you gals. I wanted to be sure that the results were not just my body playing tricks on me.
Well, the good news is, that last month, at the end of my treatments, I lost actual CM in my problem areas. YAY.
It’s been a month since, and I’m still happy with the results!
While I am a long way from perfect pins, these treatments had such a positive result on targeting the flubber in my knees and also reducing the size of my ankle and knee circumference.
To be honest, I wasn’t expecting much, so when we measured up and I had lost 2cm around each of my knees (so 4cm total) and 1cm around each of my ankles I was over the moon. The best part, it seems to have lasted.
A few centimeters may not seem like a huge deal, but seriously that 1cm difference on my ankles has been the difference between zipping up my boots or not. And that 2cm loss on each of my knees has made me feel so much better about myself.
My knees are still not where I wish they were, but hey, when I bend my knee, you can actually see the knee cap pop. Something that didn’t happen before – it just used to be a big bend from my thigh to shin. And I’m not exaggerating.
Besides actual CM loss, another big benefit for me has also been that my legs don’t feel as heavy and as tired as they used to before.
They actually feel lighter and not like they are dragging behind me.
I know its winter now, and the true test will be in summer (when we naturally swell a bit more), but I haven’t noticed any “sock indentation” on my shins, which used to happen all the time. In fact, my circulation used to be so poor, that even if I wore strappy sandals for 10 minutes, I’d have striation indentations even if the sandal wasn’t tight.
Ahh, how I’m NOT going to miss those!
I’ve also noticed more shape beyond the knees and ankles, to the calf area as well.
My Calves now look more defined, since they too were buried under a blanket of swelling and the treatments managed to assist with the circulation there too.
When I started my Liposculpture treatments, I purposely didn’t change my diet or exercise routine, because I wanted to see how and if the treatments worked on their own.
Just imagine if I had embarked on a holistic approach to improving my legs and my body!
If you find yourself in a similar scenario, you may wan’t to consider chatting to Dr Lestonn, or any of the aesthetic doctors at Skin Renewal to recommend a treatment or series of treatments that will help you.
Poor circulation affects so many women (and men) and if you’ve done everything and you still seem stuck at square one, a little asthetic assistance may be the key to boost your motivation.
Stay tuned for part 2 (possibly even three to find out more about my experince with the treatments I had).
Ps. My featured image above was taken midway through my treatments, when I could already see a difference.
