Today we take a look at the beautiful Chanel Fall/ Winter 2017 Makeup Collection – Travel Diary, inspired by Chanel’s Global Creative Makeup and Colour Designer, Lucia Pica’s Californian Road Trip.
“You can be inspired by a photograph that already exists, but creating your own inspiration gives another dimension to the process – It gets much more exciting…” – Lucia Pica
From the dawn mists and sun dappled coastline to the city lights and gritty noir of Downtown LA, with this collection, Lucia Pica embraced the serendipitous creative possibilities afforded when the journey becomes the destination.
This collection is beautiful! Once again CHANEL have outdone themselves!
A closer look at the Chanel Travel Diary Makeup Collection…
I love how the different pieces from the collection are not typically “matchy”, but work so wonderfully together!
I am obsessed with the bold orange lip of Rouge Allure Velvet in First Light, and the Rouge Coco Ink in Highway is the most beautiful coral you’ve ever seen, in this incredible formula.
Rouge Coco in Daylight is the perfect, every day nude lip!
The Les 4 Ombres eyeshadow palette in Road Movie is quite honestly, perfection.
I love how Lucia has mixed in dark, dramatic shades of deep ocean blues and rich greens, while still offering up two very daytime appropriate bronzey and beigy tones – that can be used to accent the dark colours or worn alone!
The texture of all of these is buttery soft and so easy to work with. The green and bronzey shades have a gorgeous, non-glitttery shimmer finish, while the two bottom shades are the most magnificent matte textures!
Do yourselves a favour and go try this palette out. You’ll see exactly what I mean, when I say perfection!
The new Signature De Chanel Noir liner is ink-redible! Really, it feels like ink and it stays put all day.
I’ve never found it easy to apply liquid liner (and man, do I love my liquid liner) without having to stretch my eye to make it taught. But this liner, was the first one I could use to create perfectly sharp, liquid lines without having to pull on my skin!
It just somehow, glides along the lashline and draws on the perfect amount, so you can see what you’re doing, instead of having to press down too hashly on your lashline.
The cream eye shadow, Ombre Premiere Creme in Memory is another beautiful piece in this collection. I love this formula of Chanel’s cream shadows but this colour is my new everything!
It works beautifully on its own or can be used under your eyeshadow to create more depth to the colour. I tried it layered under the bronzey tone in the Road Movie Palette, and the colour was even more beautiful and intense.
The two nail colours in this collection are the final touches to the CHANEL Fall/ Winter 2017 Makeup Collection. New Dawn boasts a muted taupe-grey shade, while Horizon Line is a soft, greenish grey.
Both beautiful colours that compliment this collection and Lucia’s Californian Road Trip travel diary.
Last, but certainly not least, the centrepiece of the collection – Palette Essentielle.
I was dying to try this out as soon as it arrived, so please excuse my messy finger smudges in the pan.
The concept behind the Palette Essentielle (this one is Beige Medium by the way) is that you can have everything you need to create a fresh faced look and keep it with you in your handbag.
Inside there’s a glorious, creamy highlighter (at the top), a beautiful, melt-into-the-skin concealer (on the right) and a, rich, creamy, blendable blush (on the left).
There are three shades for the Palette Essentielle; Beige Clair, Beige Medium and Beige Intense, and each one is suited to the various skin tones. Since I normally wear wear Beige 40 in Chanel foundations, the Beige Medium compact suited me perfectly.
I was a little struck by the intensity of the blush in the pan, and yes, if you apply too much, it can look a bit overkill, but just a quick dab in the pan and a light dab on the skin and it does wonders to perk up the face and make it look polished and refined.
CHANEL have also introduced two very versatile, Retractable Dual Brushes for your concealer and face application as part of this collection.
The Dual-Tip Concealer Brush has two ends; one side features a precise application brush, and the other, a fluffy brush to help you blend your concealer to perfection.
The Dual-Head Face Brush/ Blush and Highlighter Brush features a single head with two sides; the white bristled edge is for applying your highlighter and the black bristle head is perfect for blush and contour.
These are also really great, travel friendly brushes as both have a cap, so you can secure them in your makeup bag without getting them full of makeup fallout!
Such an absolutely gorgeous collection that you can get your hands on right now!
