I know I’ve said it before: South Africans simply don’t wear enough headwear: I say “headwear” as it encompasses a lot more than simply hats.  Im talking about funky hairpieces, beanies, fedoras scarves – anything one would put in their hair.  And I’m not sure why we choose to stay away from said headwear: go to Paris or London and no ones head is bare.  Here are a couple of snaps of great headwear that I’m talking about:

From the beanie when the weather is a bit dodge:

To a panama hat when it’s bright and sunny out

Headwear also doesn’t discriminate – you can wear it with whatever outfit, whatever shoes or whatever colour.  If the thought of wearing something on your head frightens you – start off small with cute hair accessories and graduate slowly to a full blown hat.  They will be the perfect accessory this summer: keeping you cool but also looking fantastic.

I am addicted to fourties and fifties headwear!
Spend hours scouring vintage sections of flea markets and thrift stores!

  2. I know Pippa, I hear you! I love hats, but always feel that not enough people wear them… Lets have a national head day!
