This week I would like to introduce you to Toni from the inspirational fashion blog, The Fashion Cloud. Toni’s blog consists of a variety of different posts. You not only get to see her fabulous outfits but she also does posts about the different trends and the way that bloggers wear those trends.
Whether you are a well known or an up and coming blogger, if you have style then you will be featured on her blog, meet Toni
1. Who or what inspired you to start your own blog?
I would have to say two people (or should I say sets of people) inspired me to create this blog. On one hand, the numerous fashion bloggers I had been following for quite some time were my first source of inspiration and on the other hand, my boyfriend is the one who gave me the push I needed to start the process of creating a blog. I was reluctant at first as, well let’s be honest, there are hundreds of amazing and creative blogs out there and I wasn’t quite sure how to make mine, well unique but at the same time represent myself
Then I realised that I was inspired to create a blog that picked up on the trends seen in the blogosphere (which I have come to discover are not the same as the trends found in magazines, it is a whole different universe. I saw an article in vogue about ‘how the best dressed get dressed’ and then it hit me, I wanted to blog about “how the web’s best dressed get dressed” and about the trends they are following (and in some cases creating even) and how they add they own personal style to it.
2. How would you describe your style?
As I say in my blog, I find it very hard to describe my style. I don’t like the idea of having this etiquette that would categorise me has ‘bohemian chic’, ‘minimalist’, ‘street style’, ‘rock’… I don’t even know what half of these terms mean. I just wear what catches my eye, what makes me smile or simply what I think I will feel comfortable in. I am not very good at following trends, I am either always to early or too late and either way I am doing it wrong according to the fashion world.
This is what I like about clothes (notice I use the word clothes not fashion : ) ) they are here to stay, I am always digging up old stuff that I have completely forgotten about like a skirt which I might decide that day to wear as a dress, who cares it’s just clothes and that is what makes them so fun. So basically I will swing in any direction as long as I feel comfortable wearing the outfit. I have often been told that no matter what I wear, I always have a British quirkiness to me which I take as a compliment.
3. Who inspires you fashion wise?
Any confident girl wearing ‘out there’ and ‘look at me outfits’ inspire me. I really like Kate Bosworth’s style and Alexa Chung’s style at the moment, and there is a long list of bloggers that inspire me to try out new things. Ultimately it would have to be my mum who inspired me the most she would always go on crazy shopping sprees, and would come back with items that would seem like they would never work together yet she always looked incredible and unique.
4. What are your 5 favourite fashion items and why?
1. Black opaque tights-
I just could not live without them, I literally live in them to the huge disappointment of my boyfriend
2. Jeans ( about a dozen of them)
I need my jeans and I could never pick just one fit or colour so I am going to cheat a bit
3. My Cartier trinity rings -
Please don’t think I’m snooty, they were gifted to me from my mum about 8 years ago and I have never taken them off)
4.A pair of YSL tribute black pumps
I have not found someone who is willing to buy them for me yet, but I am still looking) they are truely the perfect black heel in my books,.
5. A trench coat -
This is my British side coming out and saying hi, but I do think every girl needs a good coat.
5. Describe a typical day in your life?
Well I am currently a politics and International Relations student, so a typical day for me if you catch me during term would be spent on campus, and more often than not I end up doing going into town as I like shopping alone. I love my TV series, I think I watch about 60 shows which is just ridiculous. How I find the time to have a life outside of my TV shows is beyond me. I try to get to the gym once a week but I won’t make any promises. I do however multi task and do my blogging whilst I watch my numerous shows :) I live with the boyfriend so we keep each other company, it is actually a blast.
6. Do people recognize you from your blog?
No people do not recognise me, then again I started whilst at uni and I haven’t really left t
he campus which hasn’t really given me the opportunity to see if people do, but I doubt it.
Something strange did happen the other day that made me laugh; I went to meet other bloggers
and people would refer to me as ‘FashionCloud’ which made me laugh as it sounded so strange out loud.
7. What is your number one style rule when choosing an item?
I never really had a fashion rule, for me fashion is quite the opposite to rules. That is until recently, I decided I had far to many unworn clothes, so I now think of three ways to wear an item before buying it. This has not really been working so far haha
8. Where do you see yourself in 5 years time?
That is a question I can’t even imagine answering right now, somewhere good I hope. I will probably be working outside of the EU promoting the benefits of the EU, with style :) There have been talks of moving to Hong Kong with my boyfriend which would be a dream. I really want to travel and especially outside of the EU. I will definitely keep blogging one way or another (I think so anyway).
9. How do you find a balance between blogging and your every day life?
What balance? :) I have kept my blog and my blogging very separate from my student life. I don’t feel quite yet comfortable mixing the two. But I think the balance just comes naturally, some times you don’t want to be blogging and other times you do; Just like with anything it is good to take a step back once in a while and no get lost in one world.
10. What advice would you give to aspiring bloggers?
Go for it, it is more fun than one can imagine and the opportunities are countless. I would also suggest to make your blog as personal and representative of yourself and finally, enjoy yourself!
Toni has given not only herself but other bloggers a platform to show the style and trends of the every day fashion blogger, her blog is unique and along with her fabulous sense of style, that definitely makes her one of the Fearless Fashionistas.
