A friend of mine has been on a serious mission to get her body bikini-ready. She has been going to the gym 5 days a week for the last 6 months, and now with summer almost upon us, feels she is finally ready to wear one of those itsy bitsy bikinis. She looks great and I certainly wish I had the discipline and motivation she had to get into shape! To celebrate, she was going to have a pool party where all her friends would be present for the big reveal.

There was one slight problem, or so she said. The new bikini she just bought is considerably skimpier than the ones she used to wear and found that it reveals more…um…down there. She bravely decided to go for a *gulp* Brazilian wax! For those of you who don’t know, a Brazilian wax is where they take it ALL off. The day of the party arrived and we all eagerly waited to see the new her, but she spent the entire afternoon wearing a sarong and refused to go in the water.

Later she confessed that the wax revealed an even more embarrassing problem. A strange conversation then followed. “What?” I asked and she replied, “well, I’m not the same colour everywhere, you know, certain parts are darker than others”.

“Oh!” I say trying to control my laughter and in an attempt to make her feel better say “you know, years of shaving has given me very dark underarms, I can’t wear sleeveless tops! I tried waxing thinking it would make the problem go away but it didn’t work, there’s really nothing to be embarrassed about, I’m sure all women have the same problem”.

“They don’t!” she snaps. “Porn stars don’t have that problem!” A little disturbed that my sweet friend watches porn, I end the conversation there. However, seeing that look on her face encouraged me to do a little research. She was right, porn stars don’t have that problem, but that’s because they go for skin bleaching, an uncomfortable and expensive treatment. Oh how we suffer for beauty! I also discovered that this is a very common concern amongst women, yet no one ever talks about it! Other concerns were dark skin under the arms and scarring or pigmentation, especially on the face.

I then came across a revolutionary product and it’s available right here in sunny South Africa! It’s called South Beach Skin Solutions Lightening Gel for Sensitive Skin. Apparently it is a safe and easy way to lighten dark ‘intimate’ areas and can be used by both men and women. It’s gentle enough to use all over the body including the face and you should start seeing results in as little as 2 weeks! You can order it online and it’s delivered to your door in discreet packaging nogal! Their website also has some customer comments and after you done rolling on the floor with laughter, you find that they have some other great products such as the Stretch Mark Repair Cream and the Bust Firming Treatment.
