Beauty Scoop: Correct and conceal with Bobbi Brown

Concealers are the beauty industry’s best kept secret.  They have long been known to hide blemishes and to cover up dark circles around the eyes.  They are great, and according to the experts, concealers can help to even out your skin tone even if you don’t wear foundation.

There is also another product that works with a concealer to give you an even more flawless face, and this my friends is what makes models look so perfect… Correctors such as the fabulous ones from Bobbi Brown, allow you brighten up the darkest area of your eye before you apply concealer, to give you that flawless finish.  If you tend to get dark rings around the eyes, use both a corrector and concealer and you will see a visible difference.  I only used  the Bobbi Brown concealer before hand, but I can definitely see a dramatic improvement when using the Bobbi Brown corrector too.

The concealers and correctors from Bobbi Brown are simply fabulous!  Not only because they feel great and last a good few hours, but they have been designed to make it easy for you to get a picture perfect look, all on your own.

Take the Bobbi Brown concealer for example (left).  It comes in a dual pot, that contains the concealer at the top (with a mirrror for easy application) and it has a seperate pot at the bottom, that flips open to reveal the concealer powder.  This powder should be used after your concealer application to lock it in place. Always start your application with Bobbi Brown corrector (right),  follow with the creamy concealer and finish off with a dab of concealer powder.

How to apply – Step by step with expert tips from Bobbi Brown herself
(via her book Bobbi Brown Makeup Manual)

  1. Start with a clean face
  2. Apply corrector beginning at the inner corner of the eye and continue underneath, close to the lashes where there is darkness. (I would suggest you get yourself the Bobbi Brown concealer brush as it has been specifically designed to get into the small areas surrounding the eyes)
  3. Gently blend with your fingertips
  4. Next apply concealer generously under the eyes, starting at the recessed area at the innermost corner of each eye
  5. Cover the entire area below he lower lash line to cover up any darkness or redness
  6. To blend the concealer, gently warm it between your fingers and press it into the skin
  7. Set the concealer in place with sheer loose powder (that comes in your compact)
  • You can also dust the powder across the upper eye lid, which will help prepare the lid for eyeshadow
  • Peach or Pink correctors are used to counter a purple or green tone under the eye and a Yellow toned concealer should be lightly layered over the corrector to lighten under the eye area.
  • Some women need between two to four colours that can be mixed and blended to accommodate changes in skin tone under the eye, which can vary with the time of day, amount or rest, and hormones.  Sometimes a corrector is enough to solve the under eye problems.
