lollyJoburg ladies, you are in luck. Whether you’re a fashion addict, a green fundi or just someone who loves a good label, then you’re going to love Hautey Toitey. The store  specializes in designer fashion, but with a bit of a twist. You see, the owner of the store Eleni Arvanitakis, takes your pre-loved labels and puts them back on the racks for other women to love and enjoy. It takes second hand to a whole new, designer level. Fantastic news in these tough economic times when we’re all trying to save a little but still look great.

Of course, I’ve always been a great fan of buying second hand, and Hautey Toitey makes it so chic and easy in their beautifully appointed, and airy looking boutique. Visit Hautey Toitey at 22 6th Street, Parkhurst.

If you’re feeling a little left out, Cape Town ladies do not fret. We are spoiled for choice with fantastic second hand stores here and after having spent a day this week trawling Long Street’s gems, I can safely say that there is some awesome stuff out there at the moment. I saw, what I believe to be a real LV Handbag (or a very, very good copy) in one of the stores for a few hundred rand, and I wasn’t even looking very hard for labels. Of course, I’ll never tell which store it was because I have plans on going back for it!

But even if the stuff doesn’t have a designer label on it, it doesn’t mean you can’t find yourself an amazing bargain. If you’re looking for one of evening or party dresses, then you can’t go wrong at Glitterati (in the Long Street Antiques arcade) or Second Time Around (also on Long Street) where they currently have racks bursting with amazing dresses from as little as R200. A good dry clean, a stitch or two worth of alterations and you are set with change to buy shoes too!
