Last week I went to the ELLE Magazine Beauty Workshop at the Max Institute of Fashion Art at Gateway Theatre of Shopping. Needless to say the venue was filled to brim with stylish ladies – all on the lookout for some fabulous Makeup and Beauty Tips from Elle’s editorial team.
Here are my favourite outfits from the evening:
Tiffany: Tiffany is Elle’s Marketing Manager – I love how she has teamed an artist-inspired dress with black stockings and pumps – a classic winter ’09 look. Geometric prints and interesting textures are a great way of making a style statement and will continue to be must-have investments this spring and summer.
Zanele: Elle’s Beauty Editor sure looked like a beauty in this dress and statement necklace. Pairing a classic dress with interesting accessories is a fabulous way of updating your old wardrobe staples.
Megan: I love this outfit for its colour and trend appeal. Megan has paired a cobalt-blue figure-hugging dress with killer gladiator heels and a boyfriend blazer.
Tips for achieving evening glam:
- Play with colour – don’t be afraid to pair interesting and unusual colours together.
- Invest in awe-inspiring accessories: whether it be a great pair of art deco clip-on earrings or a chunky plastic necklace, you cant go wrong with an interesting piece of statement jewellery.
- Forget what your mother told you about the dangers of wearing very high heels and go for a pair with the highest heel you can find. Platforms and gladiator heels are all the rage.
- Try something interesting with your makeup – whether it be a bright red lip or bright colours on your lids. Feel free to experiment.
