I got to watch Bobbi Brown’s right hand man, Eduardo Ferreira in action at the official opening of the Bobbi Brown counter at Edgars Gateway, where I picked up a few interesting tips from the man who makes so many women look gorgeous.

This week, in my Best Beauty Buys 2009 we get to my favourite-favourites; colour for lips and eyes. From time to time, and depending on my mood, my choice of colour for both lips and eyes changes, but these are just some of my all time favourites this year…

Last week I kicked off my Best Beauty Buys of 2009 with cleansers, makeup removers and exfoliators. This week I’m focusing on another very important step on the road to great skin; Moisturisers, eye creams and treatments for your face.

I finally got to try out some of the fabulous MAC goodies that arrived this week, so it’s no wonder today’s Beauty Scoop is on something from MAC…

Something fabulous that is. The new holiday packs are really sensational and will make the gift receiver one very happy girl. Whether you choose to give them the Face Kits, Lip Kits, Brush Bags or Eye Bags, one thing’s for sure, they will be grinning from ear to ear, and looking fabulous doing so too!

This week I got to try out Zoom Lash mascara by MAC.  It’s a mascara that adds loads of volume and thickens your lashes, giving you dramatic, lashes that are literally, blacker than black!

What I like about this mascara is that it really does add loads of volume.  Volume (and length) is something my lashes are lacking.  Even better, is you only really need one coat and you’re done.  But becuase Im all for va-va-voom lashes, I applied two, sometimes three coats to really intensify my lashes.

Taking it off is another story, but it’s all worth it because your lashes stay pumped-up for pretty much as long as you’re wearing this mascara.  Invest in a good eye makeup remover and you’ll have no problem removing this mascara, but simple cleanser won’t do the trick.

I would also suggest you let the top lashes dry before you apply a coat to your lower lashes to avoid smudging.

Concealers are the beauty industry’s best kept secret.  They have long been known to hide blemishes and to cover up dark circles around the eyes.  They are great, and according to the experts, concealers can help to even out your skin tone even if you don’t wear foundation.

There is also another product that works with a concealer to give you an even more flawless face, and this my friends is what makes models look so perfect… Correctors such as the fabulous ones from Bobbi Brown, allow you brighten up the darkest area of your eye before you apply concealer, to give you that flawless finish.  If you tend to get dark rings around the eyes, use both a corrector and concealer and you will see a visible difference.  I only used  the Bobbi Brown concealer before hand, but I can definitely see a dramatic improvement when using the Bobbi Brown corrector too.

The concealers and correctors from Bobbi Brown are simply fabulous!  Not only becuase they feel great and last a good few hours, but they have been designed to make it easy for you to get a picture perfect look, all on your own.

Glam rock is a fun, sexy way to wear your makeup. Glam up the eyes and leave the lips nude for the day and then transform into a sexy siren by adding a pop of bright colour to your lips.  Lady Gaga has nailed glam-rock to perfection, with nude lips and diva eyes, but Christina Aguilera rocks it with clean, porcelin skin, dramatic eyes and intense lips.

It’s easy to create the glam rock look when you have the right products.  I’ve been playing with a few brands this past week, testing them out, trying on new looks and really having fun with the whole glam-rock look, to bring you this week’s beauty feature…

Now, I don’t know about you, but I think Bobbi Brown has got to be one of the most innovative cosmetics producers of all time.  This woman, not only knows how to make gorgeous makeup that lasts, but she really understands how us women use it too, and to me that’s a huge plus.  That’s why, this week Bobbi Brown gets my Fab Find Friday (again).

Lately, I’m obsessed with her new innovation, The Customizable Palette. It’s basically an empty, mirrored palette that can be customised to fit all your favourite Bobbi Brown eye shadows, blushes and even lip colours and gloss.  So instead of lugging all your makeup in a huge makeup case, that takes up space, all you really need is to (literally) pop your favourite Bobbi Brown shades into the palette and you’re done.

Another plus is that you can quickly replace colours when you run out without having to get rid of the whole palette.  I know I’m not the only one that has bought a palette of colours, only to use one shade and then get rid of it.  This is a great innovation to choose the colours you want and you get the option to change whenever you feel like it. Now tell me that’s not fab!?

The Customizable Pallet comes in three different options: a six pan, four pan and three pan container, all of which are beautifully branded with Bobbi Brown’s simplistic, elegant black casing.  And just like all Bobbi Brown’s makeup cases, these are durable and I love the full sized mirror, that takes up the whole inside.

To give you a better idea of how this box of tricks works, I took some seperate snaps:

1) Here is a view of the very compact, durable 6 pan palette when its closed.

2) I popped out all the colour pallete blocks.  You will see they have clips on the edges.  When these clip in they fit tightly and they don’t move around.

3) When you purchase your desired colours, they come in a small, single compact (see left).  They clip out of this one and into the 3, 4 or 6 pan palette, which is really cool if you just want one colour to sneak into your clutch purse, but still want the option to carry all your shades in your handbag for everyday or for your holiday.
