What style will choose?

L’Oreal and Revlon have both released sell-out ranges of lip butters – I bought L’Oreal Rouge Caresse in Dating Coral, and Revlon ColourBurst in Sugar Frosting. Both collections have similar cutesy names, like Cup Cake, Fashionista Pink and Cheeky Magenta.

Both products are pretty similar in that they give a pop of colour, like a lipstick, and moisturise, like a balm. Admittedly, I avoid applying lipstick free hand in fear of “going outside the lines” but lip butters are perfect for quick, full colour lip (no compact needed). They don’t have the staying power of a lipstick, but I’ve found that I’ve been using them instead of my regular balm, so not only are my lips hydrated and but have a shiny glow of colour too.

The lip butters range from cotton candy pinks to deeper reds. I found that Sugar Frosting gives the perfect hint of pink, and goes nicely with highlighted, dewy skin. Dating Coral has more peachy undertones so suits more of a bronzed look.

I checked both companies Facebook pages, and according to L’Oreal, their Rouge Caresse are already in SA stores, and Revlon’s ColourBurst will be in store from the 15th May.

Sonette used CND Shellac Blackpool layered with Negligee to give my nails a darkish navy hue, and Wildfire on the stiletto-shaped ring finger. We then encrusted the index fingers with random coloured stones, and viola – Christian Louboutin Jeweled Multi-color Platform Slingbacks on my tips!

Stiletto shaped nails are at the height of fashion right now, ask your manicurist for a pointier, elongated shaped look – it looks very sophisticated when teamed with the right colour!

Nails will remain the ultimate accessory. “It” nails are almost replacing the “it” bag at the moment, sooooo bling it up – and let me know if you see the perfect pair of Jimmy Choo’s!!

Lauren Conrad's multi-coloured dip dye

I first spotted dip dying on my hair icon, Lauren Conrad, who dip-dyed her ends in strips of pastel shades. Here in the UK, singer Jessie J has been switching up her dip-dyed hair from solid purple to solid red, a stark contrast to her natural jet black colour. Blondes seem to favour  pink and blue, both spotted on the likes of Kate Bosworth and Dakota Fanning.

Recently we were spoiled by Nioxin and got to try out their 3-part-Systems for three different hair concerns; fine hair, thinning hair and weak hair.

So we put these products to the test. Louise (left) and I (right) used Nioxin’s Starter Kit System 3 for fine, treated, normal to thin looking hair. “V” (middle) used Nioxin System 2 for noticeable thinning.

All three of us, used only Nioxin on our hair for three months and the products in the kits lasted for the full duration. The Nioxin System kits retail at around R645 each, which may sound like a lot at first, but lets do the math!

The System kits last for three months, which means you’re only paying R215 a month and that’s for your shampoo, conditioner and scalp treatment. Break it down even further, and you’re only really paying R71 per product per month, which is only slightly more than what you’d pay for mass consumer products that don’t deliver half as much!
