Hi There

Autumn Transitions

Autumn Transitions

Autumn is by far, my favourite season of the year! It’s not too hot, nor too cold so you basically get the best of both worlds. Sunshine all day and nights where you can cozy up under a warm and fluffy blankie and watch Netflix. It’s the best!

Chanel États Poétiques Collection for Fall 2014

Chanel États Poétiques Collection for Fall 2014

Like Gabrielle “Coco” Chanel, I love poetry! I also love makeup, Chanel and the colour pink! For their latest Autumn/ Fall 2014 Collection, the house of CHANEL draws inspiration from a colour steeped in poetic tenderness: pink, interpreted in a spectrum of shades, an intense and fragile colour collection… This collection also pays tribute to Gabrielle Chanel’s fascination with the art of poetry. Eyes are dominated by pink. With a palette of shadows that are different shades of pink, together with a bright  buttercup yellow, (called ADMIRATION) that brings and element of suprise to this collection. I love pink eyeshadow. Not the Poppie pink from the 80’s! But rather, pretty pinks that enhance the eye! I have green eyes, and pink always helps to intensify the colour. Above, are 2 of the 6 shadows. The darker one HESITATION, is an intense romantic rosewood, while PALPITATION (limited edition) is a deeper and more true pink. These two look great on their own, but especially great blended together. The other shades in the Ombre Essentielle range for this collection include: SENSATION – (limited edition) a sweet, pastel shimmery pink, PULSION – a deep blackcurrant, EXALATION – an invogorating raspberry and ADMIRATION – a bright and playful buttercup. For the quad lovers, LES 4 OMBRES in POESIE (limited edition) is a gradiation of shadows in a palette from light and…

TREND ALERT: The Biker Jacket

TREND ALERT: The Biker Jacket

The biker jacket, whether you opt for genuine leather or pleather (faux leather), can help you to create a multitude of stylish looks this winter. It’s also a great staple item for your autumn-into-winter wardrobe, that can be worn with just about anything! Give your look the EDGE by combining a chic biker jacket with trendy pieces such as textured leggings and ankle booties, or work the biker jacket into SWEET outfit as your inspiration. One thing I really love is the edginess and toughness of leather or pleather jacket worn with something girly, like florals. That combo goes really well together. Try it out! Here are some leather biker jackets I found online. If you haven’t got a biker jacket hanging in your wardrobe, then snap one of these babies up! Autumn Skin 101: Makeup trend forecast

Autumn Skin 101: Makeup trend forecast

Thanks to the lovely Eloise Dreyer, celebrity beauty artist and blogger for sharing her autumn makeup trends with us today… This autumn we have a strong palette to look forward to. I’m a lover or strong lips and eyes, and here’s what you can do to be spot on when it comes to Autumn trends. Strong brows are making a huge comeback. Dont over colour brows and draw stark lines, rather use a soft brow pencil like Bobbi Brown Brow Pencils, to create a strong and groomed look. Colours for eyes include washes of greys, browns and purples. My favourite grey palette is found at Dior in their “Gris” collection. Purples pop in pallets from MAC Wonderwoman, Estee Lauder Surreal Violet and YSL in Parisian Sky. Use an aubergine/grey/navy color eye pencil to finish off strong eyes. Keep lips either very nude or very strong For nude, try MAC lipstick in Myth. For strong, go for Java Jolt; a dark chocolate, or even a dark grape will be perfect. Skin is flawless, slightly on the dewy, translucent side. I use Chanel Vita Lumiere Aqua and YSL Transfer Resistant foundation to create the best skin. Colour mascaras are making a huge…

Autumn Skincare 101 – Toners

Autumn Skincare 101 – Toners

Toners are generally used after cleansing to help “seal” the pores and keep them from appearing enlarged. They also help to get rid of any dirt your cleanser may have missed. In Autumn, when your skin may be feeling a little extra dry and sensitive, it’s important to use a toner that is mild and does not irritate the skin. Payot Demaquiliant Express is one of my favourite “toners” as I personally prefer not to use toners on my skin (my cleanser does a good enough job :)). This one however, is a cleansing toner with 3-in-one benefits to cleanse skin, remove make and tone it all in one easy swipe. It removed makeup magnificently and leaves the skin feeling radiant and moisturized. I love using this one at night to take-the-day-away. Phytomer HydraContinue Comforting Toner helps give your skin a refreshing boost of moisture, which is especially great during the colder months. Olay Gentle Cleansers Refreshing Toner also from the Olay Gentle Cleansers range, is  ideal for mild, everyday cleansing. Calming extracts of cucumber and aloe also help to lift off any access dirt that your cleanser (or a heavy day of makeup) might have missed Nivea Visage Daily…

Autumn Skin 101 – Exfoliators & Scrubs

Autumn Skin 101 – Exfoliators & Scrubs

New Kids on the Block It’s amazing how far skincare has come in recent years. Remember those Golden Oldie exfoliators that had all sorts of scrubs, beads and granules  to help with the exfoliating process and to remove dead skin cells? Well there is a whole new breed of exfoliators out there. Some of the new types of exfoliators, or as I like to call them “New kids on the block” are so smooth you wouldn’t even consider them as exfoliators. But they do a great job at getting rid of dead skin cells.     Clarins Gentle Peeling Smooth Away Cream is a granule free exfoliator that works wonders to give your skin a fresh, smooth and “new skin” look. Apply a thin layer, leave on for one minute and remove it with light sweeping movements. I love how this product gives the feeling that you’re “pulling off” your old skin to reveal a fresh, new complexion. There is a technique to removing it, so don’t worry about damaging your skin. Nimue Exfoliating Enzyme. Every time I use Nimue, I can’t believe its a local product! It’s amazing (and looks super chic too). The Exfoliating Enzyme combines Papaya and…
