Insta-Scoop: Pink Porsche, Pink Lips and a Night at the Saxon

Insta-Scoop: Pink Porsche, Pink Lips and a Night at the Saxon

Where to start? Load’s happened last week from staying over at the amazing Saxon Hotel to checking out pink Porsche’s at the Top Gear Festival, as well as other very cool stunts by the Top Gear Team on Sunday… Here’s a wrap of my week in instagrams…. Jetting off! Getting ready to leave sunny Durbs to attend the British Airways celebration event in a much colder Jozi on Tuesday! I was so amped to have received my new TUMI travel bag (part of the TUMI Tegra Lite Collection) earlier in the week and take it on it’s first StyleScoop travel! This one is much lighter than my Arrive – which means more room for extra outfits. I love it, so expect a full post on it’s awesomeness soon! Some pics of my Room at the Saxon and snippets from the British Airways celebration event. Check out the link for more pics about the event – sadly I was too far from the “action” to take any good pics, but you can view some of the official press images via the link. Staying at the SAXON was truly an amazing experience! People like Oprah, Bill Clinton, The Beckhams and other schelebs…

The Weekend Wrap

The Weekend Wrap

This weekend was very chilled, and spent mostly indoors. With the doom and gloom weather of Durban, there wasn’t much to do. On Saturday, I (of course) watched the big Currie Cup game, where sadly my Sharkies lost to the Gauteng Lions. Yes I was upset, but in a way I’m glad the Lions won as they were the better team on the day. To show my support, I painted my nails in a Sharks design using Chanel Black Satin Nail Polish and my awesome Inglot nail art pen in number 29. The design was very striking and the black and white looks so good together. Who said you can’t support your team in style? There is really only one way to watch a rugby game (in my opinion at least) and that’s with a huge bowl of popcorn, good ‘ol South African biltong and Coke Zero. I know that most people do the whole beer and biltong thing, but I just haven’t acquired the taste for beer, and quite honestly, I’d rather spend the calories on chocolate. Did you know that 1 gram of alcohol contains 7 calories per gram? Fat on the other hand contains 9 calories per…

The Weekend Wrap

The Weekend Wrap

This weekend was perfect for catching up on some much needed chillin’ and working on my tan. On Saturday, I spent some time in the sun and watched the game. My Sharks vs the Cheetahs. Well, what a frustrating game! After Lambie missed the poles for the second time – Michalak also missed them in between – making it three missed kicks in a row, I eventually gave up my position in front of the TV to carry on enjoying the sunshine on a gorgeous summer’s day. It was scorching hot out and I’m finally starting to look like a Durbanite! Lots of Appletiser on hand to keep cool! Sunday was another BEA-utiful Durban day, spent out by the pool. In the afternoon we decided to take a drive down to the beachfront to check out Moyo on Ushaka Pier. A friend told me about it and how “you just have to go there for sundowner’s” and this Sunday seemed like the perfect afternoon to do just that. The position is perfect! It’s literally on the edge of the pier; a double story building with the most fabulous views of Durban’s buzzing beach front and the show stopping Moses Mabhida Spaceship…

A Dress So Pretty, It Makes you Want to Sing

A Dress So Pretty, It Makes you Want to Sing

Ever bought a dress you loved so much it made you want to burst out into song? Well I did, and I love it so much, I won’t sing, but I thought I’d blog it. It’s from a brand called Mink Pink which is available at Stuttafords, and I scored this lil’ number on sale for R349! Original Price R699. Gotta love half price sales. The fit of this dress is incredible, it’s really flattering and while it’s ladylike and conservative, it has a certain element on youth and playfulness. I also like the elastic band high up on the waist, give it a really nice flow without looking too bulky. I love the bright red and blue flower detail and the sheer sleeves. It would look really great with my Levis’ biker jacket – giving it that bit of a “rocker” edge. I’ve always wanted to pair this jacket with something floral, but nothing to frou-frou-frilly if you know what I mean. These are my Steve Madden Trinitie court shoes in electric blue. I love them! I’ve never worn them with a dress before, I always felt I looked a bit Minnie Mouse, but they seem to be the…

Check out my desk – It’s loaded with lip colour

Check out my desk – It’s loaded with lip colour

Tell me I don’t have THE best job in the world!  One of the perks of my Beauty Editors title (among others) is experimenting with makeup all day long and yesterday morning I got the most delightful bag of goodies, sent to me from the fabulous Jessica Lawther – Communications Manager for Estee Lauder. Like any (sane) girl, I couldn’t wait to see the colour selection from the delicious Estee Lauder Signature range. So, this morning I unloaded the selection on my desk, check it out… I’ve been fully stocked with fabulous lip colour for practically a lifetime.  And judging by this range’s staying on power, I don’t think anyone would need more lipstick. Gorgeous, gorgeous, gorgeous! With so many shades which one is a girl to choose? All of them! Keep an eye out on StyleScoop as I will be featuring these shades on future issues of my Star Beauty column, which by the way, is published every Thursday on StyleScoop. Have a fab Friday Dimi
