Les Jeans De Chanel

Les Jeans De Chanel

Every time Chanel launches a new nail colour collection, I get super excited! Their latest offering, Les Jeans De Chanel, a gorgeous trio of denim inspired nail colour. This collection, was created by Peter Phillips for Vogue’s Fashion Night Out and is going to be available as a permanent part of the Chanel makeup collection, with the exception of Le Vernis Coco Blue which is going to be a limited edition, so you better get your hands on it quickly! There are three shades in the Les Jeans De Chanel Collection; Blue Rebel, Coco Blue (my fave) and Blue Boy! Each bottle will cost R255.00 and will be available at Chanel counters from the 30th March 2012. [poll id=”58″]

Save/ Splurge – Long Lasting Foundations

Save/ Splurge – Long Lasting Foundations

I’m constantly asked which foundations last the longest, and so for today’s blog, I decided to do a little Save/ Splurge feature on my two fave, long lasting foundations of the moment. I have a perfect drugstore buy and a perfect counter purchase to suit both budgets… SAVE Maybelline SuperStay 24H – R154.95 Maybelline SuperStay24 foundation claims to last 24 hours. Well, I don’t know the exact time, but this foundation did last me all day long, right to the point where you can actually see the foundation wipe off on your face cloth when you wash your face before bed. Most of the day my skin looked even toned and natural without getting a thick, waxy feel, although after about 8 hours, it started looking a little yellow! Nothing a little tissue blotting didn’t sort out. It’s a got Micro-Flex Stretch Formula that allows the foundation to move with your skin, so no cracking! I really do like it, especially for the price and I’ve found the perfect shade, 048 Sun Beige. SPLURGE CHANEL Perfection Lumiere – R505 I’ll admit, I’m a little biased when it comes to CHANEL foundations. I love them all and have yet to find…

Beauty How To – GUESS Accessories Campaign

Beauty How To – GUESS Accessories Campaign

I am head-over-heels in love with the latest Guess Accessories campaign! The makeup is to-die-for and I can’t wait to try this look out, so I asked two of my favourite Durban based makeup artists, Candice Mac Nicol (@cands_mac) and Lisa Bailey (@LisaBaileyPout)  to give me their tips, tricks and product recommendations on how to get this glam old-Hollywood look! ON THE FACE Candice’s Tips Allow your natural skin and glow to shine through! The foundation is light and well-matched to the skin tone, allowing a natural glow. Using a wet cosmetic sponge, wet Beauty Blender or wet Stippling brush, apply a light to medium coverage liquid foundation on the face. Great products to use include MAC Face & Body or Chanel Vitalumiere Aqua. Apply concealer only where needed (under eyes, around base of nose, any red areas). This type of look requires a natural skin tone and the final look shouldn’t be too heavy or matte. Great products to use include Bobbi Brown concealer, Clinique eye concealer or Smashbox HD concealer. If you’d like, apply a highlighting concealer under the eyes like YSL Touche Eclat. Use a flat, synthetic brush and your ring finger. Contour & Highlight using a matte…

Spring Harmony – Chanel Makeup Collection 2012 Review

Spring Harmony – Chanel Makeup Collection 2012 Review

Trust Chanel to come up with yet another lustworthy makeup collection. I absolutely love thier colour collections! Their nail polishes are always one step ahead, offering colours that are unique and true to the brand’s fashion forward thinking. We may be a season behind when it comes to fashion, but thankfully we can still get our hands on the latest, 2012 Spring Makeup Collection from Chanel. It launches at at all Chanel counters on the 27th January 2012! I got to play with the full nail polish collection and a blusher that’s to die for! Let’s start with the nail polishes (R235 each). I love the names of the three nail colours in the new Chanel  Spring Harmony collection; April, May and June – named after three months of Spring in the northern hemisphere. April is a highly luminous garnet of wild berries. It may seem like an unlikely “spring” colour”, but it’s really a pretty shade that looks great for any season. I guess it would be the perfect transition from winter into spring; when you’re not feeling quite as fun and flirty but still want to melt away the winter blues. It’s a true Chanel quality shade, and…

Just Peachy! Happy Friday

Just Peachy! Happy Friday

Woohoo! It’s the weekend and this week has been an absolute scorcher in Durban! I’ve been living in shorts and vests. I’ve also been super lazy with my makeup, applying the bare minimum, but today I felt like some colour and am feeling rather peachy. I’m wearing one of the new Chanel Le Vernis Nail Colours -part of the Spring 2012 collection- called “June”. Isn’t it gorgeous? It hits our local counters later this month, but I’ll do a full blog feature on it and some other items in the collection next week, so stay tuned. I also have the perfect matchy-matchy lip to go with this colour! It’s from Revlon and it’s shade number 013 in the Matte range, called “Smoked Peach” which I layered with a peachy MAC Lipglass called “Silly Girl”. Happy Friday All images are the property of StyleScoop and may not be used without permission. Thank you

Foundation Perfection – Chanel Perfection Lumiere

Foundation Perfection – Chanel Perfection Lumiere

I love Chanel foundations and was really lucky to try out the new Perfection Lumiere. It’s a gorgeous foundation that melts into your skin, offering light to medium coverage. One application evens out your skin tone, making it look radiant and fresh, but if you like me, wan’t more coverage, then it’s a perfect foundation that’s build-able without making it look cakey or overdone. I’ve been wearing it a lot lately and am very impressed with how long it holds up. It also looks great on camera, so you don’t have to worry about looking like a ghost in your pics. It comes in a pump-action bottle, so you don’t waste a single drop. You can apply it with your fingers, a foundation brush or a “skunk brush”, it’s totally up to you. I like applying it with my foundation brush and then buffing it in with my MAC 187 brush. It gives it a really nice finish that doesn’t require powder to set. For even glowier complexion, I like to apply a bit of Soleil Tan de Chanel on my cheekbones, chin and forehead. Chanel Perfection Lumiere comes in a wide range of shades, so you are sure to…

Chanel Les Scintillances de Chanel Holiday Collection

Chanel Les Scintillances de Chanel Holiday Collection

Oh, how I love Christmas. All the beautiful goodies coming from all my favourite cosmetic houses. And this one from Chanel has got to be one of my faves. I’ve always loved Chanel makeup and think of it as my “treat makeup”, so when I got to test drive some of the new goodies in the 2011 Christmas collection, I was over the moon! This collection is a symphony of red, gold and light. Majestic and refined. Gold adds a sumptuous touch to delightful festivities. Beautiful eye shadows, sparkling powers (my fave of the lot), ivory, black, golden beige and red are at the forefront of this collection. Creative Director of CHANEL makeup Peter Phillips, used all the iconic colours of the house of CHANEL and I think Coco would be proud. In fact, Coco Chanel is very much part of this collection. Other than the name of course, the shimmer powder, LUMIÈRE SCULPTÉE DE CHANEL was inspired by a photo of a belt buckle that the Mademoiselle herself wore in the 1930’s. How cool is that? And how amazing does it look? I’m almost too scared to use the powder in the fear of ruining it’s exquisite design. But…

Foundation Favourite – Chanel Teint Innocence

Foundation Favourite – Chanel Teint Innocence

I absolutely love this foundation. I first used it when Chanel’s international makeup artist was in South Africa and she did my makeup using it. Instantly I was in love with the satiny texture and sheer effect. If your skin is looking dull, Chanel Teint Innocence compact foundation will pick it right up, giving it a fabulous, flawless glow. It comes in this beautiful Chanel compact, but when you run out, you can by the refill without having to throw away your compact. I love this idea, because the refill costs less than the whole compact, and you’re also doing your little bit for the environment and using less plastic! Bonus! OK, back to the foundation and all its fabulousness! It comes in six shades, I’m a number 40, and it’s perfect for my skin. I love how it glides on and gives your skin an instant hydrated look and and feel. The Chanel Teint Innocence compact comes with a little dry sponge that you can use to apply your foundation, but I prefer to use my foundation brush, pressing the foundation into the skin instead of dragging it. This really gives it a nice, satiny finish. Its packed with multi-vitamin…

Get your Glow on with Soleil Tan De CHANEL

Get your Glow on with Soleil Tan De CHANEL

YAY for Spring! The sun is shining, the birds are singing, life is good! Well, apart from our very white, very scary winter bodies and faces that is. Now’s the time to start getting your glow on, and I’ve found just the product! It’s from Chanel and it’s called Soleil Tan De Chanel, which when translated from French, simply means “Sun tan of Chanel” It’s a sheer, weightless liquid that adds an instant glow and brightens up your skin. You can use it on its own, or over your foundation for a really polished summer look. Like all Chanel foundation products, Soleil Tan De Chanel also has light reflecting pigments that help to give your skin that special Chanel radiance. How I like to use it First I apply my foundation, a great one for Spring is Chanel VitaLumiere Aqua or another fab Chanel one Im trying out at the moment and will have details on it soon! Using my fingertips, I apply Soleil Tan De Chanel to all the areas that the sun would normal hit; like the upper cheek area, down the centre of my nose, on my chin, the cupids bow on my lip and slighly above my brow bones. You…

Three Mascaras We’re Loving Right Now

Three Mascaras We’re Loving Right Now

We’re always on the hunt for new mascaras that will make our eyes pop and give us luxe lashes. And while there are many fabulous mascara on the market, we’ve found these three that are super hot right now. Chanel Sublime De Chanel 10 This is my new everyday mascara of choice. It’s waterproof and gives my lashes length and a nice curl without crumbling. When I removed brush to use it for the first time, I thought it had dried up as it doesn’t have the usual “coated” look most mascara’s do. In fact, I can see every bristle clearly on the brush. However, once I started applying to my lashes, it coated each lash with a super shiny texture and gave my lashes a nice curl while extending them outwards. It didn’t do too much for volume at first, but after applying three layers, the volume was amped up and there was virtually no fall out. I love the brush of this mascara with its tiny, flexible teeth. It has a patent “stretch bi-injection” brush that offers dual action in a single stroke and covers lashes one by one. It’s also got 4 mini-combs that help to separate…
