Hi There

Pretty Pastel Prezzies for Under the Tree

Pretty Pastel Prezzies for Under the Tree

Don’t you just love holiday season? Everyone is so festive and so happy – some a little out of control, but happy nonetheless! Now, as much as I love the holidays, wrapping (and unwrapping) presents for Christmas, I really don’t like kitch Christmas wrapping paper and those ghastly, dull Christmas cards and gift tags. You know the kind I’m talking about; the ones you buy in bulk packs with three different designs that you give to everyone who has a spot under your Christmas tree? Ya, those! I mean c’mon, we live in sunny South Africa, where we get to celebrate Christmas in summer, so why the dull and boring Christmas cards and snow? Last year I had enough of plastered Christmas gift wrapping and tags and made my own festive Christmas tags from free printables I found online. And, instead of ghastly Christmas wrap, I opted for brown paper to wrap up my gifts. They looked so cute and so much better than checkered Christmas trees in a row or Santa riding on his sleigh! They might be fun for kids, but that’s about it! This year, I used the template style from these printables, but made my own,…

Chanel Christmas 2012 Makeup Collection

Chanel Christmas 2012 Makeup Collection

Swoon! How gorgeous is Chanel’s latest Christmas Makeup Collection? I could go absolutely insane with all the sparkle and the festive mood of this collection. Once again, Chanel has outdone themselves, and as much as I loved their 2012 Christmas Collection, this one is even more dazzling! Last year’s collection was all about subtle romance, this year it’s all about golden bronze, sparkling jewels and an antique vintage luster! Check out my hand picked faves from this collection… I am smitten with Chanel’s REGARD SIGNÉ DE CHANEL limited edition eyeshadow quad called Harmonie du Soir. That gold is uber glam and comes out super sleek (the picture just doesn’t do it justice) and the pretty cranberry shade in bottom corner is to-die-for! Chanel’s  ILLUSION D’OMBRE in “Apparence” is another glam gold eye shade, this time in a cream shadow pot. POUDRE UNIVERSELLE LIBRE in “Revêrie” is a gorgeous face powder with subtle sparkle, perfect for the holidays. Just one tip when using this powder; check your face under different light to make sure you’re not too sparkly! The key is to add a subtle glow, not turn your face into a Christmas tree. Less is always more! LÈVRES SCINTILLANTES lip gloss, in the colour “Allégorie” will give you a perfect pout with it’s…

Ring Ting-A-Ling! Christmas With Woolies

Ring Ting-A-Ling! Christmas With Woolies

Christmas just would’nt be Christmas without some amazing treats (to eat, to wear and to indulge in) from Woolworths. I don’t know how, but every year their Christmas selection just keeps getting better and more indulgent.  It’s a little difficult to watch our weight over the festive season with so many indulgent treats around. But let’s not complain about piling on the pounds, or kilograms as we say here in South Africa, and let’s just eat, drink and be merry! Here’s a look at some of the goodies Woolies has this year for you to enjoy! I got this amazing Christmas box from Woolworths, filled to the brim with all these goodies, so I can tell you first hand, that they are treats you would definitely want . Luckily I took photos before erm, indulging, otherwise as I write this today, I’d have nothing to show you, accept a beautifully wrapped box! Mmmmm-ama Mia! Loved the Dark Chocolate Discs. Most people would use these to decorate their tree, but not me – I had a fabulous time eating them. They were filled with a yummy  mint fondant! Something else you could hang on your tree, provided you have more willpower than moi,…

My Festive Christmas Day

My Festive Christmas Day

This year we hosted Christmas day in our new house and had (almost) the whole fam over. It was a blissful day in Durban, and we really couldn’t have asked for better weather! Sun, food, family and fun, it was the perfect Christmas day… For starters and pre-Christmas-Lunch-snacks, we did a huge cheese board. I decided to do this after seeing it at the Woolworths Christmas Media day, where they had the most amazing cheese board on display. It looked so festive and so indulgent! It was a good choice and everybody loved it! I made mine a little more Christmassy by decorating it with tinsel and LED star lights. My mom in law makes the most amazing bacon rolls and she made a whole batch for Christmas. We added these to the cheeseboard, which I think made it look even more festive! Then it was decorated with glazed fruit, grapes and I even made my own caramelized almonds. Stanta made a huge drop under our Christmas tree! After opening our presents, it was time to dig into the food. We made a huge glazed gammon (I lie, we pre-ordered it – shhhh), roast beef, two over-sized roast chickens, potato…

Cute DIY Christmas Gift Tags

Cute DIY Christmas Gift Tags

Have you done all your Christmas shopping? Have you wrapped everything yet? Are all the gifts sitting pretty under your tree waiting to be ripped open on Christmas morning, or are you still putting off hitting the malls? This year I left my Christmas shopping to (almost) the last minute. I hit Gateway yesterday, with a bang, but am happy to report, after a full days shopping, it’s all done! Yay! One thing I couldn’t find was cute gift tags for all my prezzies. They are all so last season, with the same old boooooring Christmas decorations and I desperately wanted something different. I found these adorable DIY gift tags that you can download online! How absolutely beautiful? I love the double tag strip, which I’ve used on all my girly gifts. I got so inspired by these tags that I decided to lose the boring, not to mention overpriced Christmas wrapping paper alltogether and instead go with brown paper – wrapped with the shiny bit on the inside. I tell you, it makes the gifts look totally different and they look fabulous under my tree. For all my kiddie presents however, I used Christmas wrapping. These cute cards are…

Woolies Scoop – Ho Ho Holidays

Woolies Scoop – Ho Ho Holidays

It’s official! The holidays are upon us. Time for shopping, queuing, fighting over the last red bauble and thinking about what we’re going to wear and serve at our Christmas family dinners and luncheons. Don’t worry though, as Woolies has you covered for a fabulous holiday season. In August this year, I went to Woolworths’ Media Day, where they displayed all the lovely goodies that will be in store this Christmas. I had to restrain myself from tweeting and posting all these gorgeous pics I snapped up, as we were asked to keep everything hush hush. Today I get to reveal all! Fashion, food, fun! Fashion First on the to-do list, is to get your Christmas outfit (or outfits) sorted! There is such a beautiful selection of summer dresses at Woolworths this year, I’m sure you’ll find your perfect match. Although I already did a post on holiday dresses, I decided to pop into Woolies again to see what else they had in store, something a little more festive you know? This green dress from Twist (R399 top left) caught my eye immediately. In fact, I left with one in my shopping bag and if the weather warms up here…

Chanel Les Scintillances de Chanel Holiday Collection

Chanel Les Scintillances de Chanel Holiday Collection

Oh, how I love Christmas. All the beautiful goodies coming from all my favourite cosmetic houses. And this one from Chanel has got to be one of my faves. I’ve always loved Chanel makeup and think of it as my “treat makeup”, so when I got to test drive some of the new goodies in the 2011 Christmas collection, I was over the moon! This collection is a symphony of red, gold and light. Majestic and refined. Gold adds a sumptuous touch to delightful festivities. Beautiful eye shadows, sparkling powers (my fave of the lot), ivory, black, golden beige and red are at the forefront of this collection. Creative Director of CHANEL makeup Peter Phillips, used all the iconic colours of the house of CHANEL and I think Coco would be proud. In fact, Coco Chanel is very much part of this collection. Other than the name of course, the shimmer powder, LUMIÈRE SCULPTÉE DE CHANEL was inspired by a photo of a belt buckle that the Mademoiselle herself wore in the 1930’s. How cool is that? And how amazing does it look? I’m almost too scared to use the powder in the fear of ruining it’s exquisite design. But…

Guerlain’s Christmas Look – Sneak Peek

Guerlain’s Christmas Look – Sneak Peek

November sees the launch of the beautiful Guerlain Christmas Look. A collection inspired by a midnight blue colour, like a night full of stars… The inspiration started with a name, a symbol of the fragrance house… the Perfume Vol De Nuit. Beautifully packaged, the perfume leaves a luminous stardust on your skin, punctuating it with blue-green and silvery pearlescent flashes. It can be used on the hair as well, to leave you sparkling all over for Christmas…. I have’nt smelt it yet, but just take a look at the packaging! It’s to die for! As soon as it launches, I will definitely go check it out. I did get to try some of the goodies in the collection though… The Perles De Nuit – Guerlain’s Meteorites powder pearls. I’m actually wearing this today and I absolutely love it. Each pearl is coated in a different shade and when you mix them together, you get the most magnificent, luminous powder finish that looks natural and glowing! They look just like my mom’s pearls! The five shades are created to help correct your skin tone as well as make it look perfectly radiant. Pink will capture light, white will illuminate your complexion,…
