Hi There

My Closet Room Reveal

My Closet Room Reveal

I’ve been meaning to do an updated closet room tour since moving to our new home, and also because my closet room is always a hot topic and one that is highly requested by my lovely readers on StyleScoop. We’ve been in Jozi for two years now, so it’s about dang time! This weekend, after giving my vanity table a fresh coat of paint, I thought now is the perfect time to invite you into a little visual tour of my second JHB Closet. The first one was just okay. I had set it up in the spare bedroom (benefits of not having kids haha), but I didn’t love it. It was dark and the walls were a bland and boring yellow paint (which we couldn’t re-fresh), but this one, man oh man, it’s perfect. Bright white walls,  high beam exposed ceilings and so much friggin natural light! The set up is very similar to my previous one from our Durban home, it’s just bigger and a lot better. I used most of the fittings from my old setup from the very first closet room, and since I have more space in this room, I could add an extra book shelf slash shoe…

How to Hang Your Jeans

How to Hang Your Jeans

Finding your jeans in your closet can be quite frustrating! I used to store mine, folded on top of one another on a shelf, and I could never find which pair I was looking for! In fact, I hardly knew what jeans I had! After re-arranging my Closet Room (here’s what it looked like before – I still need to do that post on the updated layout by the way), I managed to squeeze in a bit more hanging space, so I decided to dedicate a rail (well half a rail) to storing my jeans. I now hang all my jeans in a way that I can see them properly! Not only the colour, but the cut, style, and most importantly for me, the leg. I am a jeans person, so I love my skinnies, bootlegs and boyfriend jeans. Hanging and displaying them like this has made a huge difference in helping me find “just the right pair”. I have three basic hanging methods, all using wooden hangers. I mostly hang my jeans by slipping the back belt loops onto the sides of the hanger. This works for most of my Demi-Curve Levi’s jeans becuase they are low waisted and have enough “room”…

Cute & Clever Storage

Cute & Clever Storage

I’m a little OTT when it comes to storing and organizing stuff. You’ll know this if you’ve seen my closet room, my makeup storage ideas (here and here) or how I store my bling rings so that I can find and see them. The only thing that was a little out of control, was my hair accessories. They were all over the place, and like most of you I’m sure, I was buying more and more. That was until I got this awesome little storage bag from the fab peeps over at SassDiva as a Women’s Day gift earlier in August. It was packed with all sorts of Diva goodies, including some lovely pastel nail polishes, fun coloured hair bands, retro earrings, studs, a gorgeous gold collar and some other fun things like a manicure set and girly earphones, all of which are available from SassDiva. When I saw how this cute and clever gift came packed, I thought it would be the perfect way to store my hair accessories. Take a look… It’s got loads of little zipper compartments, which makes storing and seeing your stuff awesome. Plus, it’s got a little hanger so you can hang it in your wardrobe or behind your…

DIY Post – How to Make Your Own Closet Room

DIY Post – How to Make Your Own Closet Room

After posting my Closet Room the other day I got so many requests from you guys asking where I got the wardrobes and how to set them up etc.  Believe it or not these babies came from Mr Price Home and at only R899 a piece. I’ve got four of them that we joined together to create my Closet Room. Here’s how you can get your own… CLOSET IN A BOX Each one of the wardrobes come in a box that you assemble yourself. It’s fairly easy to get the wardrobe up yourself, but its great if you have some help. I’m glad my hubby helped me put my wardrobes up as he came up with the idea to join the two together, making them look like a single unit. You can place the shelves wherever you want, they don’t have to be exactly as the instruction. You will however need a bottom shelf for support and one fairly close to the top to keep it supported throughout. The only thing you wont be able to to do, is if you’re going to join the wardrobes you wont be able to have all the shelves aligned in the same position.…

My Closet Room

My Closet Room

Since moving into our new place, I’ve been obsessing over a lot of new and exciting things. One of these being my all new, all fabulous and all mine CLOSET ROOM! If you follow me on Twitter, you’ve probably seen some of the pics and know all about my closet room ramblings, so I thought I’d share it with you now that it’s almost done. Before I get into it, I just want to say that I’m not posting this room to brag or show off what I’ve got. I just want to give my readers some ideas, as many of you are able to do this in your own home. For others, you may pick up some great tips to help organize your space and make it easier for you to find and store your clothing and accessories. I’ve been collecting my stuff for years and hold onto absolutely everything. I’m a bit of a hoarder, which can often suck, but in the case of creating a room like this, is quite a bonus. I also take really good care of my stuff, so it tends to last me quite a bit. Ok, nuff rambling, lets see the closet!…

Shop Your Closet…

Shop Your Closet…

Imagine having a room just for your clothes. A whole room dedicated to everything you love, out fabulously on display just like a boutique. Like most of you (I’m sure), we don’t all have a dreamy walk in closet leading off our main bedroom between our bathroom ala Carrie Bradshaw (Sex and The City). But, what some are able to do is convert a room into a closet, after all, when you really think about it, how many times does your “guest” bedroom really get used? The first time I had heard of closet rooms was from StyleScoop’s own Fearless Fashionista, Jasna. It’s been something I’ve wanted for ages, and now its finally happening! If you follow me on Twitter, you’ll know that I’m working on my very own, very first and very exciting closet room. We’ve just bought a new house and with four bedrooms and two people, I’ve been given the freedom and green light from my hubby to “go wild” in one of the rooms – yay!!!! It was actually his suggestion – I know, I’ve trained him well haven’t I? So, stay tuned, I’ll be posting my closet room just as soon as I’ve managed to…

The Fearless Fashionista’s Closet Room Make over Part 3 Or

The Fearless Fashionista’s Closet Room Make over Part 3 Or

So here is part 3 and the last post on my closet room make over. – Jasna This is the other side of my the room where I have situated my desk and my clothing rail. I painted the desk white  and added a few personal touches to it. I love my green mouse pad and my pink mouse. I decided to move the clothing rail away from the window and put it behind the door. I hung some of my bags on the door along with my DFC cap.   I put my tripod next to the window so that I can take pics when my photographer is not around and hung more bags on the mirror stand. I put some of my shoes on top or along side my fashion books to add a quirky touch.     Some of my bags and shoes on the white shelves. There are 1 or 2 final items I must still find and then my closet room/studio/office room will be complete.
