TREND REPORT: Stylish Denim Accessorizing

TREND REPORT: Stylish Denim Accessorizing

Denim is just one of those items that will never go out of fashion. Every season it gets re-invented; whether it’s the wash, the style or the cut. This season, it’s all about the lightweight denim shirt – a staple item no woman should be without. In today’s Trend Report, we show you how to accessorize your denim shirt and turn it into a style statement with inspiration from D&G. For their Spring/ Summer 2010 ready to wear collection (which happens to be our 2011 summer here in sunny SA), D&G featured denim as their key piece. Styling it up with shiny, long and loose hair, leopard print accents, tan boots and aviator sunnies. This look is simple and achievable, and if you haven’t already got a denim shirt hanging in your cupboard, go out and get one! Or, steal one from your man. The over sized boyfriend shirt cinched in with a tan belt and rolled up sleeves, makes a huge style statement. Get the look! [post-slideshow] I’ve been obsessed with this look since I saw the first images from the D&G show. Check out how I matched up this look with local items.

The Turn up Jeans Trend – Gotta Love it!

The Turn up Jeans Trend – Gotta Love it!

Turning up your jeans is a quick and easy way to update your look without spending too much. It looks chic and trendy and I also recently discovered that one pair of turn up jeans make the prefect anywhere-outfit – ideal for packing in your holiday bag. Wear them with flats or heels, boots (as Dolce and Gabbana did for their Spring/ Summer 2010 collection) or my personal favourite, with gladiator sandals or gladiator/ cut out platform pumps, you just cant go wrong! Turned up jeans works well on skinnies and straight leg styles, as well as certain regular/ tapered cuts. The ones you want to avoid turning up are your boot cut jeans as they just look bulky, and well, strange! Here are some brilliant basics that can work so many different styles. The jeans featured above are my new favourites, Levis Demi Cut straight leg jeans in Indigo blue. Indigo is great colour for the turn up trend, as the inside colour of your jeans gives it a rather nice contrasting effect. Pair them with killer platform cutous (from Aldo of course) and a simple tee and you’re 100% on trend. I love this “I heart ViNYl” one…
