If you’re a child of the nineties, you probably remember baby-doll dresses, right? Those suit-just-about-any-shape cute dresses, that had a fitted bodice and just the right amount of “flare” at the bottom? Ringing any bells yet? Well the skater style skirt (and dress) is very similar, just an updated version. A little black vest, white tank top, cute t-shirt, graphic print jersey tops and tees, that sexy corset or bodysuit, denim or biker jacket, and all those shirts… the possibilities are endless. Look how cute it looks with a denim shirt (above), To help you put some cute skater girl outfits together, we picked out some stylish way to wear your skater skirt. Shopping Scoop – Candy Crush

Oh la la, we’re loving the new Candy Crush collection from Forever New that launches in store this week! I popped into store yesterday and saw some of the beautiful items already on display. It’s a collection featuring soft, pretty and sugary sweet colors with ornamental details. It’s a swirl of candy floss! Think blush pink, mint green and powder blue shades in luxe, textured fabrics that finish off this mouth watering collection. I must have the  Annie Printed Shift Dress – R1199, as worn here by the model. What’s your favourite item from this collection?

Topshop Opens at Gateway Durban

Topshop Opens at Gateway Durban

We’re so excited to finally welcome one of London’s trend setting clothing brands, Topshop and Topman to South Africa! They’ve recently opened a store in Sandton and now, Durban’s Gateway Theater of Shopping plays home to the second TOPSHOP store in South Africa. Always first with the trends and shopping scoop, StyleScoop was there to bring you an inside look at this amazing new chain. It opened officially on Saturday, 14th December at 10am, but the media got to enjoy a sneak peek one hour before the official launch, complete with yummy muffins, coffee and early morning treats from another Gateway hotspot, Tasha’s! Take a look a some stylish pieces we scooped…   As you can see, lots and lots of trendy studs and leopard prints! I actually need to make a second trip to TopShop to see what else there is on offer. I was most impressed with the selection and found myself running around from section to section snapping up all the exciting pieces. The store itself is surprisingly quite large and also hosts TOPMAN, which (guys) I’m afraid, I didn’t get a chance to check out! When the store was still being renovated, judging by the entrance…

What to Wear to The Polo

What to Wear to The Polo

It’s that time of year again, when SA’s fashion forward crowd come together to celebrate fashion, style and of course, the horses. So what do you wear to the Polo? Cute prom dress – check, wide brim hat – check,  stylish accessories – check. And as much as we love our sky high heels, ladies, it’s best to don your wedges to the Polo to ensure that you stay stylish all day, because, lets  face it, sinking into the grass whilst sipping on champers and having your picture taken with Ryk Neethling is so not a good look! If you need a little style motivation, check out these three looks we created that we think would make perfect Polo outfits… PRETTY LADY: Nude accessories give this coral prom dress an elegant finish, while the ladylike stud earrings and delicate flower necklace add that extra feminine touch. Ring Ring, Bling Bling

Ring Ring, Bling Bling

I’m a sucker for bling rings! Big, bold and beautiful statement rings are my thing – I’ve even found a really great way to store my rings. So, naturally when I saw how some of my fave fashion bloggers;  Sydne, Folake and Maria were wearing their rings, it really caught my eye. While keeping their statement rings in place, all these girls did was add another ring halfway on their finger (instead of all the way) giving it a really nice effect. Take a look… Sydne from Sydnestyle.com – view the full outfit post here Folake from StylePantry.com – view the full outfit post here Maria from KittiesandCouture.com – view the full outfit post here I was so thrilled when I popped into Lovisa over the weekend and discovered that they already had little “ring packs” with all sorts of designs and in a great selection of colours. So, what do you think of wearing your rings this way? Do you like it? Comment below, I’d love to hear your thoughts…

The Anklet is Back

Heya fabulous gals! I just returned from a glorious summer holiday in Europe and Dubai and one thing that really caught my eye, especially with the European girls on the beach was ankle bracelets. Judging by the number of girls wearing these, I’d say they are definitely back in fashion for summer. For me, I don’t know how I feel about this trend – I remember trying it back in school, when it was still cool, but now that I’m an adult I just don’t know…    All anklets from ASOS. Trend Alert: Scarf Prints and A Tribute to Madiba

Today is Nelson Mandela’s Birthday… Visionary, leader and fashion icon! Yes you heard me, fashion Icon! Scarf printed dresses, tops, trousers and tunics are hot fashion items right now. Many say this trend was inspired by Versace, which may be somewhat true, but I think the visionary behind this trend has got to be Nelson Mandela with his iconic, multi coloured Madiba Shirts… In celebration of Madiba’s birthday (he was born 94 years ago today on the 18th July 1918), we scoured the web to find scarf print pieces that we’re loving right now. Take a look… River Island Scarf Print dress, available here Lipsy Scarf Print Dress, available here Blue Scarf Print Dress, available here  Scarf Print Blouse from ZARA Eliza Floral A-Line Skirt (R599) from Forever New Loin Cloth & Ashes Afro top from 36 Boutiques PS!
