I’ve Got Curls… They’re Multiplying…

I’ve Got Curls… They’re Multiplying…

And the power they’re suppling, it’s electrifying… Happy Spring day ya’ll! What better way to start a new season than with a new hair do? I’ve missed my ombre so much, so yesterday, I went to my hairdresser, the fabulous Louise, to get me some blonde highlights and slowly bring my ombre back… This time I was inspired by another pic of Jessica Alba that I posted on Twitter . The result… Bye bye red, hello ombre! While we’re on the subject of new hair, this season, I plan to experiment with more hairstyles. If you know me, you’ll know that 99% of the time my hair is just plain ol straight. It’s not that I don’t like styles -I do- but since my hair is so straight it usually doesn’t hold the style for longer than an hour, so what’s the point right? Well, now I have a reason to go curl crazy and it’s all thanks to the new L’Oreal Professionel Tecni Art Hollywood Waves range. Although, If I’m honest, my Louise helped me out on this style, but a style is a style so shhhhhh! Besides the pretty packaging, these new launches from L’Oréal Professionnel Tecni Art Hollywood Waves, Hollywood Waves-Waves Fatales (296) and Hollywood Waves-Siren Waves (R296) are all that and more if you want curls galore!…

Summer Festival

Summer Festival

Two outfit posts in one week! You can defs tell that I’m getting into the summer groove! And, I’m actually starting to make friends with my camera too (hehe). Okay, so Toni&GUY asked me to Dress from the Hair down and put together a look of the week for their Tumblr page. Since we’re pretty deep into festival season, outdoor parties and summer days spent outside, I based my look around “Rocktober” and came up with this festival-ready hair and outfit… I washed my hair and combed it out using a bit of Toni&GUY Smoothing Detangler To style my hair, I used TONI&GUY Sea Salt Texturizing spray which I sprayed into my damp hair before rough drying it. Then, I just pulled my hair to the side and braided it. I braided it quite tightly and left a little space where I tied it up, so that I had enough room to tug at the sides of my braid. I do this to give it a fuller and messier appearance. For the outfit, of course I picked something denim! My gorgeous denim gilet which I bought in Greece and a fun, floral (but not too girly) dress, aviator shades and although you can’t see them, I…

#TousledHairDontCare

#TousledHairDontCare

Almost time for parteeeee-season! What are you going to wear? More importantly, what are you going to do with your hair? Sleek and sexy is always good for party locks, but since here in South Africa, holiday season revolves around summer parties and beach-bound hair, casual, yet sexy hair is always a winner in my book! Since I am also a Durban gal, you guys know the humidity here can be pretty crazy at times, so instead of fighting messy hair, I’ve decided to work with it instead! One of my fave looks for sexy summer hair, is the tousled, effortless, “I just woke up with it” kind of hair. Think Miranda Kerr and Blake Lively (but without the curls). This look has more attitude than tousled hair with curls and is so much easier to do! I don’t know about you guys, but having to style my hair with heat in summer can get pretty uncomfortable, especially on those friggin’ hot mornings! There are tons of ways to get this look, but here’s how I did it… Shampoo and condition hair Rough dry using a hairdryer on medium heat until hair is damp but not completely dry While the hair…

Let’s Go Gaga with Lady Gaga Hair

Let’s Go Gaga with Lady Gaga Hair

She’s hot, she’s bold and girl knows how to rock a crazy hair do! This November Lady Gaga will be rocking SA and to get you in the Gaga spirit, we’ve found the perfect way to turn your hair into a Gaga do, no cutting necessary! Lady Gaga is famous for many OTT hairstyles, but her most iconic hair statement is undoubtedly her blunt, full fringe. This hair style is how we first got to know Lady Gaga when she released Poker Face. There was no mistaking Lady Gaga’s unique style with her platinum blonde locks, defined eye makeup and of course, the in yer face fringe! Now, I for one can’t rock this fringe. Earlier this year, I tried a fringe but just couldn’t get used to it – and that was a much, much smaller fringe. I do love Gaga’s full fringe, but let’s face it not all of us want to go snipping our locks, but at the same time we’d still like to try this look, and if we had more hair to do it – well that would be perfect! Lucky for you, I’ve found a way you can get your Gaga fringe without snipping your precious locks. And when…

Ombre! Before and After

Ombre! Before and After

Ombre Hair is the biggest trend this season! A few weeks ago I posted about trying this style out on my hair, so here you go…. Hair by the fabulous and talented Louise at Zephyr Hair in Gillits – KZN. My hair colour before was a pretty light shade after multiple applications of highlights! As much as I loved the golden glow, with winter approaching I wanted to go darker but not too dark, so Ombre hair was the perfect fit for me. Louise working her magic! I do love the Ombre hair trend, but for my hair I didn’t want an in-your-face contrast between dark and light, so asked Louise to give it a more blended effect. She applied a darker shade over my roots into the middle of my lengths using Loreal 4.3 and leaving out the already lighter ends of my hair. After letting the colour set for 35 minutes, she ran a comb through my ends to blend the darker colour into the highlights, and then it was onto the basin for washing and rinsing. The finished look, Olé Ombre hair! I’m really loving this look and might get a bit braver next time and make it more in-your-face Ombre! If you’re a Durban girl give…
