On The Go Beauty…. What’s Inside My Travel Beauty Bag

On The Go Beauty…. What’s Inside My Travel Beauty Bag

Even though I’m back to being a Jozi girl, one thing I’ve learnt from being a former Durban blogger, is how to travel smarter. I used to travel all the time (to Jozi and CT) for overnight launches and I eventually created a little on the go beauty bag. A bag that’s always packed and ready to go, with some essential travel beauty products. Since we’re heading into holiday season, I thought I’d share the contents of my travel beauty bag to give you gals some tips and advice on what I can’t travel without. This little Lou Harvey toiletry bag is the perfect travel size toiletry bag and holds a ton of products. In the past I had different toiletry bags, from ones with built in hangers (so you can hang it on a bathroom rail in your hotel room) to many, many others. I love this one because, when it’s unzipped, you can see and grab anything… no having to empty the contents of your entire bag every time you want to find something. And I mean it’s cute too so who can argue with that?! Now let me show you what’s inside… These are products that live permanently in my travel beauty…

Smooth, Silky Soft Hair with Moroccanoil #MOSmooth

Smooth, Silky Soft Hair with Moroccanoil #MOSmooth

If the winter frizz has your hair feeling drab and down, difficult to style and just not looking it’s gorgeous self, then I’ve got some great news for you! The new Moroccanoil SMOOTH Range launched last month, and it features four amazing products enriched with the one and only Moroccanoil argain oil blend, argan butter and coconut derived fatty acids. A Shampoo (R350), Conditioner (R370), Smoothing Mask (R570) and a Smoothing Lotion (R430) that offer high performance hair smoothness that you can see and feel. I’ve been using them for about a week now and I’m obsessed. I was fortunate enough to experience the entire range, so my hair days have started with the shampoo, conditioner and the mask – which I leave on for about 5-10 minutes. After I’ve showered and towel-dried my hair, I apply two pumps of the Smoothing Lotion and that’s it! Although I’ve been a long time fan of Moroccanoil’s iconic hair oil, which I’ve been using since November 2011, my hair was so silky, soft and shiny even without having to apply the oil. These products work really well and leave your hair looking incredibly soft, shiny and healthy, but the best part for me, was how much easier my hair was to manage. Since my hair is very fine,…

Hair We Go in 2015

Hair We Go in 2015

It’s a New Year, which means New Hair! I started 2015 with a brand new hair colour – Aubergine/ Purple – a big change from my beloved Ombre – and I’m kinda obsessed with the new darker do. There’s also a couple of products that have me loving my hair, in addition to the new colour… Fountain Food Supplement: The Hair Molecule I’ve started downing this new beauty supplement to get my hair in tip top condition. It’s a concentrated liquid that contains Silicon, Biotin and Hyaluronic Acid, which works from within to support hair and let it grow strong, healthy and full of shine. Just what the hair doc ordered! I’ve only been using it for about a week, and I can already see an improvement in the condition of my hair. It’s so much shinier. I must admit, it doesn’t taste great. It’s not horrible either, just not very pleasant. But if it gets the job done, I’ll keep on downing it. Available from: Clicks Price: R299 Moroccanoil Root Boost Another product that’s given my hair new life is Moroccanoil Root Boost. It’s a volumizing spray that gives your roots body and lifts them without the need for…

3 Holiday Hair Essentials Worth Lugging Along

3 Holiday Hair Essentials Worth Lugging Along

I’ve narrowed down my holiday hair products to the bare essentials. Moroccanoil Light, Batiste Dry Shampoo and a big ol’ Wool floppy hat. That’s it! I cannot live without Moroccanoil Light. Seriously, it’s the best invention ever – and while there are other hair oils out there (and so many of them are fab), I love my Moroccanoil! I have the “big boy” (aka full sized bottle)  sitting on my dressing table, and I like to keep this baby bottle in my travel bag, to make sure I don’t ever leave it behind. It’s happened before and lets just say, I did not have a good hair day! Then, my just-in-case hair essential is Batiste Dry Shampoo. It’s just one of those products… you never know when you’ll need it. On holiday anything can happen… hotel has no hot water, you oversleep and can’t wash your hair, (or another drama) and lets face it, nobody likes to go through the day with dirty, stringy hair! These are also sold in miniatures (and different scent options) so they make for the perfect little travel companions. And last but not least, my big ol Wool Floppy Hat! I’m very much a hat-on-holiday kinda girl, because they protect your hair and face from the sun, but also add that extra…

Moroccanoil Clarifying Shampoo

Moroccanoil Clarifying Shampoo

I don’t know what it is with my hair, but as soon as I find something that “works wonders”, after a while it changes and I need to find a boost of something different to whack it back into awesomeness. Lately, I’ve been loving the new Moroccanoil Clarifying Shampoo. I use Moroccanoil (the oil) on my hair all the time, and it’s one of my all time MUST HAVE hair products. Now I have found a new love for the brand. This shampoo is really, really great! It clarifies the hair, ridding it from any product buildup, while at the same time, keeping my locks nourished and hydrated. With normal clarifying shampoos, I find that my hair is super dry, and can usually feel the difference in texture straight away in the shower. So, I normally don’t like clarifying shampoos because of that. This one, changed all of that for me! It left my hair feeling great in the shower, and made it super shiny and so much more manageable – even without my daily dose of Moroccanoil. I can go two days without washing my hair (which is a lot for me since it’s fine and gets greasy quickly), and even on day two it’s…

Your mama always said, don’t be a tease! Well, we say go a head and be one! A hair tease that is! Teasing no longer scares us. Those eighties hairstyles may have been teased to death, but teasing your hair is a great way to give it volume and more oompf! I’ve recently gotten into teasing my hair and I can tell you that having the right tools to do the the tease makes it so much easier! Not to mention the wrong brushes, and the wrong technique can leave you almost hairless! Quite the opposite of what you’re trying to achieve in the first place isn’t it? Here are four fab brushes (or combs rather) that will help you tease those locks… Comair MARK II Blue Ribbon Five Tail Teaser Comair 3839 Blue Ribbon Large Teeth Teaser ghd Narrow Dressing brush (R196) ghd Tail Comb (R105) The Comair MARK II Blue Ribbon Five Tail Tease comb with a metal pik is a great comb to use for achieving seriously teased hair with ease. The brush is also heat resistant…

Moroccanoil Launches in South Africa

Last week I was in Cape Town for the official MOROCCANOIL South Africa Launch. I’m so excited about this celebrity brand of hair care and really glad that it is now available in SA too!
