Hi There

Nomad {outfit post}

Nomad {outfit post}

What do you guys think of the whole nomadic style? I’m kinda digging it. It has such a free spirited boho feel that makes me want to embrace it. When I saw this, “Coatigan” the other day at Edgars, I immediately fell in love with it. It reminds me of a real hippie/ surfer girl style (even though I’m no longer a Durban girl, and besides I never surfed – although I did try a few times and was just no good) But anyway! I loved it! The hoodie and fringe detail really appealed to me, as did the intricate knit. I thought it would make a great addition to my wardrobe, since I could wear it in winter, but ultimately, my thoughts when buying it, was with the idea of wearing it in the Spring. Think denim cut off shorts, a little white tee and brown combat boots! But Spring feels like a million miles away, I thought I’d try out a different style for winter this weekend… Excluding the shoes and sunnies, I found all the pieces for this outfit at Edgars. I really enjoy shopping there these days – their selection is so fab. They carry great in-house pieces (like my coatigan) as well as a…

Sunshine Tiger

Sunshine Tiger

We’ve really had the most amazing weather in Durban this past week! In fact, I think it’s been the best “Christmas Week” (weather wise) in ages! The sun has been shining and with two days off, I spent a lot of time by my pool – which doesn’t get used very often. I got to wear my new GAP Denim Cut-off shorts, which are so comfy – I love the frayed edges – and my Tiger print tee, which I think compliments my new crazy ombre hair colour (inspired by Jessica Alba).       T-Shirt: Jay-Jays (new)  |  Shorts: GAP (new)  |  Bikini Top: Stuttafords (old), Sunglasses: Giorgio Armani (new)  |  Sandals: Woolworths (new)  |   Evil Eye Bracelet: From Greece (old)  |  Beaded Bracelets: From Mr Price (old)  |  Necklace: From my mom (very old)  |  Trilby Hat: Billabong (old)  |  Beach Bag: Lou Harvey (old)  | On my Nails: CND Vinylux Desert Poppy and Sun Bleached from the Open Road Collection [signature]

Summer Stripes

Summer Stripes

A perfect nautical combination; stripes, sea, blue and red! The Durban Marina is such a beautiful place to see, and with the gorgeous weather we had this past weekend, we decided to head down there and enjoy the view of the yachts. Since I was feeling summery and nautical, I decided to wear my new GAP striped maxi dress. I love this dress! It’s so easy-breasy and makes for the perfect dress to take with you on holiday! It can be dressed up with a pair of heels and layered jewellery, or dressed down for a Sunday afternoon with flats and a bold pair of sunnies. This dress can easily be worn entirely on it’s own, however, I wanted to give it a little more! I dressed it up with a nude plaited leather belt. Instead of looping the belt through the buckle, I just wrapped it around and let the buckle hang loose. I’ve never worn anything like this before, and I quite liked the way such a simple detail changed the look entirely. To finish off this outfit, I wore my two tone bag (which had the perfect contrast of red and nude), simple flats with a rope detail and hearts,…

Summer Festival

Summer Festival

Two outfit posts in one week! You can defs tell that I’m getting into the summer groove! And, I’m actually starting to make friends with my camera too (hehe). Okay, so Toni&GUY asked me to Dress from the Hair down and put together a look of the week for their Tumblr page. Since we’re pretty deep into festival season, outdoor parties and summer days spent outside, I based my look around “Rocktober” and came up with this festival-ready hair and outfit… I washed my hair and combed it out using a bit of Toni&GUY Smoothing Detangler To style my hair, I used TONI&GUY Sea Salt Texturizing spray which I sprayed into my damp hair before rough drying it. Then, I just pulled my hair to the side and braided it. I braided it quite tightly and left a little space where I tied it up, so that I had enough room to tug at the sides of my braid. I do this to give it a fuller and messier appearance. For the outfit, of course I picked something denim! My gorgeous denim gilet which I bought in Greece and a fun, floral (but not too girly) dress, aviator shades and although you can’t see them, I…

Lemon Drop

Lemon Drop

So you guys know I’m a total denim junkie right?! I absolutely live in my jeans, and with summer fast approaching, it’s not easy to find jeans that are suitable for summer. When I spotted these gorgeous, lemon cropped leggings from GAP, I knew I had to have them! They are perfect for summer and for me, they tick all the boxes… great quality, great fit, comfortable – and a really great colour. I really like where the “ankle crop” sits, and you can wear them rolled down (as I have), or folded, which to me, looks much nicer with heels. I was heading to the car show with the hubz when I wore this outfit, so heels was out of the question! Which ever way you decide to wear them, these jeans are quite versatile and the colour just makes them stand out! I think I need them in every colour available! [signature]

“Peek-a-Boo” Sleeves – 3 Ways!

“Peek-a-Boo” Sleeves – 3 Ways!

My current obsession is wearing striped tees (long for winter) and layering them with a denim shirt or camo jacket. Then, rolling the sleeves up just a bit to let the stripes peek out. This style is very JCrew, and I love it! It gives an otherwise boring outfit a stylish edge! I’m obsessed! Here are three ways I’ve worn peek-a-boo sleeves… I wore this outfit when we went up Sani Pass back in March this year. It was fa-fa-freezing up there! The darker it got, the colder it got. I managed to wear this outfit while the sun (not that you can see it) was out, and later I put on my leather bomber jacket under my sleeveless puffer jacket. I love the combination of my denim shirt and the black and white long sleeved tee. Look at how the stripes peek out on the arms, and I love how the stripes peek out at the back too! Nothing I’m wearing in this outfit is new, except for my Caterpillar Military Boots! Black Jeans – Woolworths RE, Black & White Tee – Zara, Denim Shirt – Edgars, Puffer Sleeveless Jacket – Woolworths. When I did the CROCS “Make A Splash” shoot in April, we had…

Autumn in the Middle of Spring!

Autumn in the Middle of Spring!

I am in love with this very versatile drop waist dress from Levi’s. It’s the perfect little summer dress that can be worn in so, so many ways! I wanted to wear mine with some cute summer wedges, but alas, the weather has not been playing nice, and so I opted for an Autumn look in the middle of summer. It’s also been raining non stop in Durban lately, so I thought I’d pair it with my rain boots. I love the “leathery” fabric of this dress and the zip down the front, but my favourite part has got to be the pockets. I love pockets! Dress: Levis. Peasant Top: Truworths (from a million years ago), Sunglasses: Ray-Ban Semi-Rimless Aviators, Boots: Hunter

Bubblegum Casual Crocs

Bubblegum Casual Crocs

Every blogger needs an outfit post and a jumping photo… I hope you all had a fantastic holiday yesterday. I did a bit of work on my bloggy, but seeing as it was a holiday, I went for a laid-back casual outfit. Since I was feeling all relaxed and left my inbox unopened, I decided to take out my camera and do a li’l outfit post for ya, showing you my fab bubblegum pink Crocs! These lace-up canvas Crocs are beyond cool and comfy too! The colour, well, it’s amazing and kinda makes an otherwise boyish shoe look very girly! I love the rounded toe detail on the front – so retro!. These look so much more stylish than plain old sneakers, and the Croslite™ material midsole offers great lightweight cushioning for your feet – perfect for shopping! They are made of a lightweight, breathable canvas and also come in black, oyster, raspberry and navy. I’m usually a size 6/ US8/ EUR 39 and the six fits me perfectly. You can find these at Crocs authorized retailers, or buy them online via the Crocs SA website, www.mycrocs.co.za – they retail at R499.95 a pair! I’m wearing: White Top – Meltz, Boyfriend…

Rocking my Crocs – The Crocband Winter Boot

Rocking my Crocs – The Crocband Winter Boot

I never thought I’d say this, ever, but I am seriously rocking my Crocs! Now I know what you’re thinking, Crocs? Seriously? Gone are the days of the plastic-not-so-fantastic Crocs clog! Crocs are actually starting to look pretty cool. They’ve introduced a whole wack of new styles, some of them in canvas and leather options! I have never owned a pair of Crocs before. For me, I didn’t care how comfortable the Croc Clogs were, there was no way I’d wear them. But now, since Crocs have introduced so many fab new styles (you can view them all here), I’m actually quite excited about Crocs. Besides them being totally cute, they are comfy, excellent quality and trendy too! Don’t believe me? Just check out these gorgeous Croc’s Winter Boots They come in black, brown (espresso) and white (oyster). While I’ve never been a fan of white shoe anything, a pair of plush booties like these in white actually look rather cute and oh so wintery! As I mentioned, these boots are super comfy and fabulous for a casual winter day. They cost R649.95 and are available online as well as at the following retailers nationwide: Crocs stores, selected Cape Union…

A Dress So Pretty, It Makes you Want to Sing

A Dress So Pretty, It Makes you Want to Sing

Ever bought a dress you loved so much it made you want to burst out into song? Well I did, and I love it so much, I won’t sing, but I thought I’d blog it. It’s from a brand called Mink Pink which is available at Stuttafords, and I scored this lil’ number on sale for R349! Original Price R699. Gotta love half price sales. The fit of this dress is incredible, it’s really flattering and while it’s ladylike and conservative, it has a certain element on youth and playfulness. I also like the elastic band high up on the waist, give it a really nice flow without looking too bulky. I love the bright red and blue flower detail and the sheer sleeves. It would look really great with my Levis’ biker jacket – giving it that bit of a “rocker” edge. I’ve always wanted to pair this jacket with something floral, but nothing to frou-frou-frilly if you know what I mean. These are my Steve Madden Trinitie court shoes in electric blue. I love them! I’ve never worn them with a dress before, I always felt I looked a bit Minnie Mouse, but they seem to be the…
