I have a new obsession with trenches lately! They are such easy pieces that you can just throw on to instantly upgrade your look and make it more polished. Right now I’m loving this Lightweight, Green Epaulette Coat from SheIn – my new fave online shopping destination. As we say goodbye (and good riddance) to winter and hello to Spring, this trench will probably become my new BFF! I can picture a cute summer look with a little white tee, denim cut offs and gladiator sandals or even Converse… Hmmm! Yesterday, in Jozi we got to experience a little taste of warmer weather, so I thought it would be the perfect opportunity to wear this coat to an exciting fragrance launch (more on that soon). My look started with a hat, but quickly changed thanks to the wind deciding it was a no go (hence all the face touching in my pics). I am glad though, that I got at least one shot with the hat, because I love how it makes this look more wintery. I also really love the flap detail at the back of the coat, and the subtle hint of epaulettes on the shoulder which give it that military feel. TOPSHOP opened their new store-in-store at Edgars Rosebank Mall yesterday, and I went to check it out! The store is a lot bigger than I had expected. While it can’t be compared to a TOPSHOP flagship (like Sandton, Menlyn, Gateway, V&A or Canal Walk), TOPSHOP Rosebank has a fabulous selection of their current range. They also have friendly, vibey staff who get excited about the range and enjoy the clothes as much as we do! The variety on offer is pretty wide. From fabulous party dresses (if you’re planning your NYE outfits), to cute little festival outfits, everyday stylish clothes, swimsuits and jeans. You definitely won’t want to leave empty handed! They also have a small, but decent selection of the seasons’ must have handbags, footwear, sunglasses and (my fave) hats on offer. Overall, this space is crisp, clean and perhaps because it doesn’t carry the full range as a TOPSHOP flagship, I could get a closer look at the hottest season’s clothes instead of being overwhelmed with too many options. Don’t get me wrong, I love variety, but even more so, I like “space” to be able to see what’s on offer. A couple of things on my list….…

Last week was a full week of fashion festivities! One of them being the launch of Topshop’s New In Collection showcase! I loved the entire collection! It’s so free spirited and stylish! Of all the looks, the little festival style outfit with the floral top and lace shorts had to be my fave. I’m also obsessed with the little white pleated skirt, the blue capri pants and those killer blue heels. Oh, and can we just take a moment to admire how cute that slogan tee is… I mean, what’s so hard about rocket science anyway? I’ve really missed Jozi! I forgot how much culture and vibe this beautiful city has. I guess it takes moving to another city for ten years to realise what you really have “back home”! A little while ago, we visited the Neighbourgoods Market in downtown Johanneburg. If you haven’t been or heard of it before, it’s a saturday-only market in the heart of Braamfontein. The vibe there is really cool, a little hipster and a really great place to hang out, have a drink or feed yer’ face with delicious treats. You absolutely HAVE to try the Paella. It’s beyond anything you’ve ever tasted – and you can witness the whole cooking process in giant (and I mean giant, look how small the people look in comparison) paella pans. You might want to grab a quick treat like maybe a Miya’s Sushi Cupcake beforehand, as the Paella que is seriously long. The longer you wait, the hungrier you get! The lower level is where you “pick” your food. Upstairs, on the rooftop, there is an open air spaced area for you to munch it down, or have a drink in the bar. The drinks selection is quite interesting, whether you feel like a Melon Mojito served in Consol jars or, warm red wine…

We’re so excited to finally welcome one of London’s trend setting clothing brands, Topshop and Topman to South Africa! They’ve recently opened a store in Sandton and now, Durban’s Gateway Theater of Shopping plays home to the second TOPSHOP store in South Africa. Always first with the trends and shopping scoop, StyleScoop was there to bring you an inside look at this amazing new chain. It opened officially on Saturday, 14th December at 10am, but the media got to enjoy a sneak peek one hour before the official launch, complete with yummy muffins, coffee and early morning treats from another Gateway hotspot, Tasha’s! Take a look a some stylish pieces we scooped… As you can see, lots and lots of trendy studs and leopard prints! I actually need to make a second trip to TopShop to see what else there is on offer. I was most impressed with the selection and found myself running around from section to section snapping up all the exciting pieces. When ZARA opened it’s doors in South Africa – and I believe it’s hitting Cape Town next month- fashionista’s breathed a sigh of relief – no more having to shop on holiday to get our “international trend fix”! Well, now there is even more reason to get excited because TOPSHOP and TOPMAN will be available in SA too! Let’s hope H&M is next on the list… TOPSHOP, TOPMAN and Unknown Union have partnered to launch a Pop-up-Shop on the first floor of Unknown Union’s iconic store currently trading on Kloof Street, Cape Town! Pencil this one in your diaries, Uknown Union will be opening on July 12th, 2012. The dedicated Topman/Topshop “shop-in-shop” will feature a curated selection of the men’s and women’s fashions that have made both Topman and Topshop synonymous with style and quality at remarkably good value.
