Having been to Mauritius twice before, I thought I knew the island pretty well. Turns out, I got to experience a whole new kind of Mauritius in the South. On previous trips with my hubby, we stayed on the North Coast – and I pretty much know Grand Baie like the back of my hand. But this time the Mauritius I experienced was wilder, more idyllic, peaceful, serene and very different from the “buzzing touristy” island I’ve always know.

The South Coast of Mauritius is wild. It’s even referred to as the “Wild South” and you can tell. It’s much greener, where palm trees don’t dominate, but rather blend in with the lush vegetation. I even saw pine trees growing on the beach.

The Blyde River Canyon has been on my bucket list for ages. Funny thing is, every year (for the past five) we head out on an amazing African Bush Getaway to the Timbevati. And every time, we drive straight past the town of Graskop, home to the magnificent Blyde River Canyon.

This year, I decided to surprise the hubby with a stay-over on our way back and if you haven’t experienced the sheer magnificence of the Blyde River Canyon, you are missing out on one of God’s most magnificent creations!

One of my favourite experiences on our Mauritius trip, and one that felt – truly Mauritian – was our little rum tasting tour and touring the Mauritius Wild South.

Since we did the Catamaran excursion ten years ago when we visited, we opted for an inland tour of Mauritius instead.

You guys know how much I love a good road trip and I’ve always said that road tripping is part of the holiday fun. Being in South Africa, we are really spoilt with an amazing road tripping landscape, where (most of the time), we have access to pretty decent roads to travel long and far!

Limpopo being one of my favourite road trip destinations!

If you’re a regular Joburg-to-Durban (or Durbs to Jozi) road tripper and you haven’t added the majestic Drakensberg area to your stop along the way, then you’re really missing out on one of the most beautiful landscapes South Africa has to offer.

A dramatic escarpment of glorious basalt peaks will take your breath away.

Sweeping vistas, flawless panoramas and stunning mountains, the Drakensberg is also home to the highest peak in South Africa.

It’s been over a month since our magical holiday to the island of Mauritius, and judging by my Instagram feed, you can tell I’m still not over this paradise island. We had such an incredible stay and today, I wanted to share some of my Mauritius Travel tips and a visual story that may help you if you’re planning a visit to this East African gem.

Mauritius truly is a slice of paradise! From the beautiful beaches to the crystal clear waters with incredible sea life. Then there’s the five-star service (throughout the island), the flowing cocktails and of course, the fantastic weather.

But the one true thing that makes Mauritius so incredibly special, is it’s warm and friendly people who welcome you into their little corner of paradise – if only for a few days!

Safari’s out in Africa are my favourite! I am a total bush baby and would quite easily trade a tropical paradise getaway for some bush time!

Having gone on a few epic Safari’s, I’ve learnt a lot that has helped me “get ready” for the next one! -October I’m counting down the days-.

Every time I travel, I always write a list of things to remember! Things like “bring extra mozzi spray – you will need it” and “don’t forget to pack a pair of boots next time” help when I’m packing or planning my next trip.

In this case, my next safari!

I love reading 24 hour city guides. I like to see what others would get up to if they had only 24 hours, because I think it highlights their best parts of a city.

Although my recent visit to Prague was for 3 days, bear in mind that this was a business trip, so a lot of the time our schedule was packed with interviews, launches and store visits. But, I did manage to experience a full day of exploring before jetting back to SA – as well a few sights sneaked in between the agenda.

If you’re planning a trip to the kingdom of Bohemia, then here’s a few of my travel tips…

I’ve just returned from T-H-E most amazing, 3 day trip in beautiful Prague and can’t get over the beauty and charm of this magical, fairy tale like city of contrasts. I was there attending #BataFashionWeekend, as Prague is the home town of the 123 year old Bata shoe brand. In the coming weeks, I’ll have more content on the fashion show; with an insight into what you can expect to see from Bata (exciting things to come), as well more travel content,  but for today, I wanted to take you along, on a walk through Old Town Prague with me…

I can’t believe that it has been over a month since my amazing Dubai adventure. Right now, I’m having serious Dubai withdrawals! So today, I’m taking you back to show you one of the magical places that I stayed in – the beautiful Madinat Jumeirah Al Qasr – a hotel that will truly take your breath away! Madinat Jumeirah Al Qasr is a luxurious, 5 star Arabian resort, that is so beautiful, you almost don’t want to leave the premises. And why would you? This Palace (Al Qasr translates to Palace in english) is so beautiful and has amazing facilities all around it. If it wasn’t for a tightly packed schedule, I could have easily just stayed right here 🙂 So much to do, so much to see and beauty all round. The Al Qasr hotel forms part of theMadinat Jumeirah, or “City” of Jumeirah, which is a cluster of resorts, world-class restaurants, bars and cafes, the Talise Spa and a traditional souk, filled with Arabian gems, all interlinked via meandering waterways. You explore the complex by jumping on an Abra, which is a traditional Arabic boat made of wood! It’s such a fun experience, and a fun, authentic way to take in the beauty of the Madinat Jumeirah. Inside the hotel you instantly feel the majestic elegance. From the Royal architecture that showcases Al Qasr Madinat Jumeirah like…

Not too long ago, I was (literally) on top of the world! One of the highlights of my Dubai trip was a visit to the Burj Khalifa! At 829.8 metres, the Burj Khalifa is the tallest building in the world! Myself, Tyashnee from DTMC SA, Kelly from Marie Claire and my ninja partner in crime – Irina (you’ll see what I mean by ninja soon –  just keep reading…) At 124 floors, the Burj Khalifa is so tall that you can watch the sunset from the base of the building, get into the elevator right to the top, and watch the sunset all over again! How insane is that!? It’s a view that cannot be understood until you experience it, and if you are ever in Dubai, I highly recommend checking it out! Everything looks so extremely small, that your mind will have a hard time trying to put things into perspective! Cars look like matchboxes, people are not noticeable at all, and roads look like strings of spaghetti! Within the Burj Khalifa is the exquisite, chic and elegantly minimalistic ARMANI Dubai Hotel, which occupies the concourse level through to level 8, as well as levels 38 and 39. This hotel is pure elegance, and every design detail was overseen…

Take me back to Friday the 10th! It was a perfect day to spend a blissful afternoon, cruising around on a private Yacht, taking in the breathtakingly beautiful Dubai Marina! The Dubai Marina is an artificial canal city that has been built along a 3 km stretch of shoreline. Picture deep blue Persian waters, surrounded by residential sky scrapers all round. Good company and good food is all you need… Irina, Me, Kelly from Marie Claire. Mpumi from Destiny and Mbali from True Love The Crew: From top left: Mpumi Sinxoto from Destiny Magazine, Kelly Fung from Marie Claire, Mbali Soga from True Love Magazine, Irina Doman from I’ll Take It All , Tumi Voster from 5fm, Shashi Naidoo, Lorinda Voges with singing sensation LeAnne Dlamini and the two girls that made it all possible; Lucy Mussett and Tyashnee Gounden from DTCM SA. It’s the perfect way to view a definitive Dubai landmark, The Burj Al Arab setting sail “out at sea”. Or brave jet skiers that put on a little show… Or, the ideal place to take a mandatory Yacht photo… having your  “titanic” moment! All round, a fabulous day! If only I had worn my swimsuit, as the water looked amazing to take a dip!
