Hi There

Badged!

Badged!

Looking to make your clothes your own? Look no further than embracing the badged fashion trend! Yes folks, this is certainly a kitch throwback to the 80’s and reminds me so much of an old school back pack I once had, which was plastered with badges! But you know what, as everything that comes back in fashion the trend this time around is more refined, more personalized and way cooler.

Winter Classics

Winter Classics

My love for trenches continues! A trench is such a classic piece. It works all year round, no matter the season. I love the structured, almost military silhouette of this one I bought at ZARA recently. It always makes me feel polished and pulled together. My Perfect winter outfit! And what’s winter without a Starbucks Vanilla Bean Macchiato?! I swear, every time I’m at Mall of Africa, I just can’t resist my little Starbucks fix! I’m obsessed!

The Cashmere Sweater

The Cashmere Sweater

After this weekend’s chilly blast, I thought today would be the perfect time to talk about one of my most coveted pieces – the cashmere sweater… The king of all knits! I popped into ZARA the other day and couldn’t believe my eyes when I spotted the most perfect cashmere sweater ever! Spoiler alert… It is a heck of a pricey item and I am still weighing my options, so thought I’d share a few local finds if you too are looking to beat the cold in style with a little cashmere this season. I would probably  never spend that kind of cash on a “department store” jersey. Shoes, yes – without blinking an eyelid – but clothes…. Let’s just say I’m not as blind when it comes to clothing prices as I am with shoes. I mean, give me any shoe, any price and I bet I could justify its worth! What can I say? It’s built into my DNA (thanks Dad). But cashmere is different. Branded or not, cashmere is a very special item and there are reasons for its hefty price tag. But what makes a Cashmere Sweater, or cashmere anything for that matter oh so amazing?…. The wool used in Cashmere is different to that of…

Hello March!

Hello March!

I realize today’s post is a little late, considering we’re already into the second week of March, but I’ve been under the weather and haven’t had the energy to post. Nonetheless, I’m feeling a lot better and wanted to start my first blog post of March as a tribute to my favourite month of the year! I love March for a number of reasons. Firstly, it’s my Birthday month and it also happens to be my anniversary month. March is also (usually) filled with holidays, plus it’s the dawn of a brand new season. So in keeping up with tradition, it’s wish list time again – ya know, just putting it out there for the universe to see…

Lace Up Heels

Lace Up Heels

What could be better than a new pair of heels?… I’ll tell you what; Grabbing the last, lustworthy pair, and getting them on sale! I’ve been coveting a pair of sexy lace up heels since this post. Any shoes with laceup details are pretty much like putty in my hands! No wonder you’ll find tons of them all over my Pinterest board. I bought these lace up wedge heels from Zara a while ago, and every time I wear them, I’m almost always guaranteed to get compliments. Some girls will stop and ask me where I got them, others just stare! I still wanted a pair of lace-up heels though. Something with a sexy stiletto. I had seen these gorgeous snake skin leather laceups on Zara’s website and every time I happened to be at Sandton City (which was quite a lot), I kept going in to look for them. I never ever found them, so I just kept waiting… hoping… praying! Until I accepted my fate that I could never add these beauts to my shoe shelf. And then bam! I find it! One last pair and on sale! I’m sure someone must’ve returned them. But, oh well, their loss, my gain! My life is now complete! Well, I…

I Want, I need

I Want, I need

There are few things in life where I have little self control… Chocolate would be one of them, but shoes… shoes are my real weakness! I could happily have rags to wear, as long as I was wearing my rags in a pair of fabulous shoes! Sky-high killer shoes that is! Like these beauts from ZARA. Aren’t they just stunning!? I spotted them on the ZARA website, and have been going into store, eagerly awaiting their arrival.

ZARA Durban Launch & A Sneak At Winter

ZARA Durban Launch & A Sneak At Winter

Durban fashionista’s can do a hop, a skip and a jumpity jump! ZARA is finally open at Gateway – the second ZARA to open in South Africa! Sorry Cape Town! Trust me, we need it more than you do, although it’s your turn next! Last night, I was lucky enough to score an invite to the launch and be one of the first Durbanites to check out the store. The store opened officially this morning, so I’m sure there are plenty happy Durban shoppers trotting around Gateway with their ZARA bags like it’s the hot new accessory of the season. Well it is! The store is filled to the brim with gorgeous everything! The layout, ahh-mazing and the clothes, well we all know ZARA rocks! The space is welcoming and although there is plenty of stock to choose from, it’s not cluttered and messy! Everything is visible and I love how they’ve created mini looks, by hanging a gorgeous jacket to wear with the dress on display! I must admit, I had to walk around the store like five times before I could decide what I wanted – seeing as I wanted it all! It was hard work I tell…

Zara Durban – We Have a Date

Zara Durban – We Have a Date

I’ve been waiting for this email ever since they announced Zara was opening in South Africa. While the Johannesburg store is already open at Sandton City, Zara’s second South African store is set to open in my hometown of Durban! And I’ve got the date!!! Finally! No more waiting 🙂 The Durban ZARA will open at Gateway Shopping Centre on the 2nd March 2012! Just a few weeks before my birthday – YAY! I’ve seen the outside of the Zara store at Gateway – it’s on the same level as my other fave stores; Aldo, Sunglass Hut, Just Japs and Via Uno, so I know Im going to have fun on my shopping trips. The Gateway store will occupy more than 1 700 square meters of retail space on a single floor and filled with fabulous ZARA apparel for women, men and kids. The interior of the store willl feature display areas and furnishings designed to convey an image of elegance and simplicity – a perfect setting to let ZARA’s fashionable clothes take centre stage!  The local ZARA stores offer clothing selections that are tailored to our country’s climate conditions – featuring the latest in trends, garments and fabrics that…

Shopping at Zara

Shopping at Zara

Yippie! I got to shop at Zara Sandton City this weekend and it was fab! Like so many of you, I’ve been waiting for this brand to come to South Africa and I’m so glad it’s finally here. I was in Jozi for an 85th Birthday, but my hubby, being the best hubby there is, made sure we squeezed in some time to head to Sandton City. We woke up before the crack of dawn to catch and early flight, landed at OR Tambo at about 9 and went to Sandton City after picking up my mom in law’s car. I know ZARA is coming to Durban next, I’ve seen the store front so it’s a definite, but I don’t have an official date for them yet. Regardless, I couldn’t wait, so I was glad to be able to visit the very first ZARA in South Africa. Their clothes are beautiful. I already own a few pieces, that my mom sent me from overseas and the quality is really good. I heard mixed reactions about the price; some said it was reasonable others expensive. Whhhhaaat? Their prices are very good! Very reasonable and I’m actually quite surprised that they were…

The South African ZARA

The South African ZARA

By now, I’m sure you’ve seen and heard all the @SandtonCity girls who have been to the very first ZARA store in South Africa, brag and show off their ZARA purchases. If you haven’t, or even if you have, here’s an idea of what they get to experience. The Sandton City ZARA outlet is one of the largest ZARA outlets in the world! It’s more than 2, 700 square meters on a single floor! Shoe-wee! That’s bigger than our first townhouse, possibly even the whole block of them! What you probably didn’t know about ZARA is that the South African range is customized exclusively for South African’s, taking into account our climatic conditions. ZARA is probably one of the world’s leading fashion brands; loved by millions, including celebrities and a big hit with fashion bloggers, but thanks to ZARA, we wont have to wait for the trends to hit South Africa a season later! We’ll get the trendy styles, the same time that the fashion world living in the Northern Hemisphere gets them! With only adjustments to the fabric, which will be suited for our different seasons. No more waiting for last year’s trends to become “hot numbers” here in…

Zara Leopard Print Lusts

Zara Leopard Print Lusts

Alright, I seriously can’t wait any longer for Zara to open in South Africa, although I’m sure it will take them a few more years to hit the Durban shoreline. Ahhh well, for now I’ll keep dreaming… Dreaming of these lovely leopard prints…
