The tulip skirt is not the easiest silhouette to pull off, but I have learnt to love the shape. A friend of mine is so obsessed with this skirt that she spent much of her holiday in Singapore treading the streets and monopolising change rooms in an effort to find the perfect tulip. And she did. More than once!
The tulip skirt was a major style feature at both New York and LA fashion weeks, adopted by designers like Paul Smith, Vera Wang and Lanvin.
Celebrities everywhere are donning the shape.
The great thing about the tulip skirt is that it nips in at the waist (high-waisted options are extra chic) and skims over anything you may want to hide in the hip and thigh area, creating the perfect hourglass silhouette.
Wearing it with a structured, fitted top accentuates feminine curves, while at the same time, avoiding excess volume, and so making for a stunning shape. No woman wants her ass emphasized (funny that), but this shape can be really flattering if worn right. Another top tip is to pair with black opaque tights and sky-high heels.
