Everyone should have a crisp white shirt in their wardrobe arsenal. The perfect fitting white shirt is a classic, much like the LBD, black wide-leg trousers and camel trench.
Not the easiest thing to come by, but well worth the search. The varieties are endless – cotton with stretch, fitted silhouettes, cuff and sleeve details, collar variations – but they all work equally well paired with trousers, jeans or pencil skirts, or worn under cardigans or vests. I love a white shirt worn formally to the office, or casually teamed with jeans and All Stars.
I personally favour a men’s style white shirt, not too fitted, in a luxuriously high quality 100% cotton and preferably made-to-measure. There are always an abundance of white shirts reinterpreted seasonally to match the trends, but great button down with French cuffs and a stand-up collar is the ultimate timeless wardrobe essential. I have to admit that I am still on the search, and am hoping that an amazing tailor in Thailand in December can whip me up a shirt that perfectly fits my long arms and body!
