Nice and nautical

nautical 1The nautical look is all over the runways and huge right now for Spring in the northern hemisphere. So how do you do this look without going overboard (excuse the terrible pun)?

It’s all red, white and blue; stripes, anchors, cords and more stripes!

nautical 2The idea is to keep it clean and tailored, French chic if you will.

The most accessible piece to wear is a little striped knit, vest or tunic top. Wear it in either the classic red or blue, or why not try mixing it up a bit with an unexpected yellow stripe?

Wide leg pants are the perfect sailor attire, preferably in white with two rows of buttons on the front panel.

Alternatively deep dark indigo blue denim (or should I call it Pacific blue?) is always a win. Pair with wedges (a lovely red is constantly fab) or red sneakers (the failsafe KEDS perhaps?).

nautical acneA navy blue blazer is also the perfect way to add a nautical feel and you’ll be able to wear it any time, even when you aren’t going to sea.nautical bex rox

If you’re a little scared of looking like you’re going to a dress-up party, I’d stick with a simple striped boat-neck tee and some inexpensive aquatic inspired accessories (gold is always a classic and anchor designs are everywhere!) A simple gold bangle is also a sure-fire winner.
