I’ve had so much fun reviewing all the up and coming fragrances for spring 2010 and this week, let me introduce you to Issey Miyake‘s “Summer Odyssey” – Two new fragrances for him (L’Eau d’Issey pour Homme) and her (L’Eau d’Issey) that not only brighten and spruce up the brand’s minimalist codes of white and silver packaging, but also add a fresh new flavour.
For women, Issey Miyake is wrapped in a joyful ribbon of lilac, while a turquoise wave is used to brighten up the men’s fragrance. Both fragrances were created by Jacques Cavallier and add a colourful, fruity ambiance – a perfect fit for a sexy South African summer.
Lets start with the guys’
My husband has always been a fan of L’Eau d’Issey Pour Homme, and I’m happy to report that he loved this “summer version” just as much. In fact, he’s put his classic Issey Miyake in the back of his cupboard and has been using the Summer version instead. The scent is energetic and citrusy with a fresh and vivacious signature that is heightened by spicy cardamom and sage. The vitality of the scent develops over a sensual base of vetiver and ambergris – In layman’s terms, sexy smelling stuff!!!
For the ladies, L’Eau d’Issey Summer Eau de Toilette is just what the summer doctor ordered! It offers a radiant, yet delicate burst of summer flowers releasing top notes of rosewater and pear. Middle notes of peony and carnation add spice, which is further enhanced by accords of precious woods and osmanthus base notes. This is certainly more my kinda fragrance as you can certainly smell the woody spice, yet there’s a subtle hint of girliness and fun freshness.
Both of these fragrances are the ideal summer must-haves. I found mine to be the perfect spritz for a day of carefree living – and, after all, isn’t that what summer’s all about?
