Burlesque Movie Premiere

I love musicals. From The Sound Of Music to Les Miserable to Grease, Moulin Rouge and Chicago. I love watching movies where people break out in song mid conversation or when they are heartbroken or elated, because it makes me feel all warm and fuzzy inside. Which is why I was really excited, when I received an invitation from Woolworths and Smashbox to see the gorgeously sexy musical Burlesque starring Cher and Christina Aguilera.

A fun movie with great make-up and gorgeous costumes, Burlesque is a totally modern take on Burlesque, so don’t expect to see something or anything in the line of Dita von Teese. In fact at times I felt as if I was watching something based on the actual Pussy Cat Dolls (not the band) and Jenny Andrew’s described it perfectly in her tweet afte watching the movie by likening the movie to Coyote Ugly, but with better costumes. And how much fun was Coyote Ugly? Didn’t we all sing that song by Leann Rhimes and want to dance on bar counters?

Woolworths and Smashbox really put together a perfect girls night out with this event. From the lovely drinks and eat session at the Woolworths beauty section where you could sample the Smashbox Burlesque range exclusive to Woolies and where I met the fabulous face behind the Woolworths twitter account to the performance from one of the Black Orchid Burlesque dancers, it was all in all a good way to spend my Thursday evening.
