What to Wear to the 2012 Vodacom Durban July

Can you believe it’s only five more sleeps until the much anticipated 2012 Vodacom Durban July? This weekend Durban will be abuzz with fashionistas from around the country, for one of SA’s biggest, most stylish horse racing events.

No clue what to wear to this years’ theme, A Material World? Get a glimpse of what SA’s hottest designers have in mind with these images from the recent 2012 Vodacom Durban July Invited Designers’ Fashion Showcase (check out the backstage makeup post I did on this event here)

Accents of Gold in this Suzaan Heyns sheer spider-web paneled dress and it’s contrasting gold crystal shawl.

African Prints! David Tlale’s black and white animal printed chiffon creations and an elaborate, ombre-dyed tulle shawl with cascading beaded neckpiece down the centre of the dress.

Leigh Schubert’s sheer cascading cream creation flows beautifully down the runways. For the guys, Life by Andre Martin was all about denim and PVC with metal-studded black strips and accents of red.

Glam Goth! Zama Mathe’s tailored sheer black chiffon & netting with beautiful lace-up backs and embellished beaded necklines.

Gideon’s collection told a dramatic story of forbidden love with a mixture of cream, grey and snatches of rich scarlet and blue.

Colleen Eitzen’s dip dyed, ombre collection featured tiered skirts in shades of beige, grey and rich berry, accented by leather accessories.

Brenda Quinn from Diva’s dramatic, cream and beige collection was all about texture! From lace to crocheted doilies, with the show stopper, a multi-textural handkerchief skirt.
