SteamPod

I’ve never been one to fuss too much about my hair. I do however, lust for long, fabulous and above all, healthy hair!

My hair problem is this. While it is very long, which I guess is something most girl’s want, since living in Durban, it seems to have transformed itself into a permanent frizzy do! So not cool!

I know there are products out there that work in taming the mane, but most days I just get out of the shower and let my hair dry naturally (without product). I know it’s lazy – but at least I can go two days without washing it when it’s not plastered with product!

The last time I had my hair done, I saw that they had a new treatment called SteamPod by L’Oreal, that straightens and smoothes the hair. So naturally I wanted to try it out.

SteamPod is an in-salon treatment promises “beautifully sleek and manageable tresses with a glamorously glossy, smooth finish”.

It works similar to a hair straightener, but with steam that helps to smooth your tresses. A cuticle smoothing cream is applied to wet hair, which is then allowed to dry naturally. When the hair is almost dry, the SteamPod straightening iron is used on the hair, followed by a finishing product.

Does it work… YES! It does, however bear in mind that this is not a straightening system, but rather a way to make your mane more manageable. Which is exactly what I was after!

The Steampod treatment worked wonders to de-frizz, and my hair dresser said that it would last for up to three washes. I’ve washed my hair a few more than three times since trying this, and my hair is still manageable!

I have my hair done at Zephyr, and they offer the SteamPod treatment as an added service. So you unfortunately can’t book it on it’s own. You’d have to at least have your hair washed and blow dried at the salon. But still this treatment is definatley worth it!

Zephyr offers a wash and blow for R169, and an additional R35 for the SteamPod finish. So for under R200 you’ll walk out having spent way less than a Brazilian Blowout, and with far better results.

I had a Brazillian Blowout a few weeks ago and was highly disappointed with the results. The first time I had it done, I kind of loved it, but this time it lasted for less than two weeks, so I definitely won’t be doing it again. SteamPod on the other hand, is great, works wonders and I will definitely be doing it again.

Another fab thing with the SteamPod is that you don’t have to use any expensive, “special” aftercare products to maintain it. So, besides being cheaper than a Brazilian Blowout, the maintenance is far less expensive as well.

If you’re in the Upper Highway area of Durbs, be sure to book a SteamPod treatment at Zephyr. Ask for Louise Thurlow, she is amazing!!!!
