Sneakers are Haute Couture! As seen at Chanel Spring/Summer 2014

YAY! Leave it to Uncle Karl to make sneakers haute couture worthy!

In his latest show for CHANEL, Karl Lagerfeld mixes the ultimate symbol of sportswear, the sneaker, with the ultimate feminine symbol of couture, the corset!

Each silhouette is infused with youth, energy and modernity. “It is all about attitude and silhouette, shapes and cuts,” says Karl Lagerfeld.

At the show, which took place on the 21st January at the Grand Palais in Paris, models walked down staircases that framed the stage, to the sound of an orchestra led by Sébastien Tellier.

The Grand Palais was transformed into the Cambon Club, a contemporary vision of a night club with minimalist décor. Not leaving out a single detail, even in the decor, the aluminium floor which formed the set was surrounded by mirrors veiled in muslin. “It’s like a night club from another galaxy,” said Karl Lagerfeld.
