Manifesto L’Elixir from YSL

I’ve missed Fragrance Friday’s, have you?

How beautiful is this amethyst, jewel-like bottle of Manifesto L’Elixir from YSL?

It’s the new, “updated” version of YSL’s Manifesto perfume that launched in 2012. I haven’t smelt Manifesto, but I do believe that Manifesto L’Elixir is the more seductive and more intense version of the original.

Now, if you read my blogs and fragrance reviews, you’ll know that I generally favour the more intense stuff, and I do love EDP (eau da parfum), since the fragrance develops and generally lasts all day.

Manifesto L’Elixir starts off with crisp and tangy top notes of bergamot and mandarine. Jasmine sambac absolute, heliotrope blossoms accord and tuberose absolute form a heart of sensuality, and it finishes with velvety base notes of cashmeran, vanilla bean and ambroxan.

It’s really a unique kind of fragrance – for me at least. It’s a little more grown up than florals, and although it’s sophisticated, it still maintains a classy element of seduction

According to Fragrantica (the mother of all fragrance databases), Manifesto L’Elixir‘s main accord is vanilla, followed by citrus. Weird, since most of the time vanilla scented fragrances give me a massive headache, but I totally love this one. I guess having vanilla in the base notes and none in the heart and top notes makes it wear much better.

Overall, I really like it and found that one spray is all I need for a full day’s wear. Sure, by the end of a hot summer’s day in Durbs, the scent does fade, but it still leaves a hint of those last few base notes.

Admired and desired, she believes in instinct and intuition. Free from all rules, she abandons herself entirely, body and mind, to her art. Audacity and sensuality carried to the extreme. THE QUINTESSENCE OF MANIFESTO EAU DE PARFUM The solar encounter between jasmine and tuberose is faithful to the elegant and daring universe of Yves Saint Laurent couture. A fragrance carved around an emblematic floral bouquet, for an audacious and intense woman.hank you for the quick reply, we appreciate the effort!

Retail price for a 50ml EDP is suggested at R 1170.00
