Today’s fragrance is nothing new, however, it’s my first whiff of Balmain, so I guess, in a way, it is kinda new.
I half expected this scent to smell a little more edgy. Don’t get me wrong, I like the scent, but it’s a lot more sophisticated than I had expected.
I mean, yeah the bottle looks very chic and sophisticated in a no-frills kinda way. But, when I think of Balmain, I get the image of Madonna rocking her sexy, studded, hard to the core Balmain Shoulder Dress (from Balmain’s 2009 ready to wear collection) in her Celebration music video.
So when I opened the package to find a simple and elegant fragrance, I was a little surprised.
But I do like it, it makes me feel a little more sophisticated and dare I say it, “Rich”!
I’m also a huge fan of anything with Vetiver, Jasmine and Citrus – all of which Ivoire has in it’s DNA.
Ivoire is not a new fragrance for the fashion house either! Although this is the “remake” version (that launched in 2012), it’s the updated, more modern version of their 1979 classic, Ivoire de Balmain.
It has top notes of Mandarin Orange, Galbanum and Violet Leaf,
Heart notes of Rose, Jasmin, Ylang-Ylang and Iris, and
Base notes of Vetiver, Cedar, Patchouli and Vanilla.
It’s a very feminine scent that will have you feeling like a lady. I wouldn’t call it “girly” or “playful”, but definitely a sophisticated fragrance that isn’t old and musty!.
Think of it as an elegant fragrance that you’d associate with a really smart, sassy and well dressed woman.
Give it a try, let me know what you think![signature]
